Question about 2000 Volvo S70

My 1999 volvo S70 will lose power as I am driving. The rpm goes down but does not stall. I have to pump the gas pedal to get the power back. Also once is a while the car will stall when I bring the car to a stop. Then in order to star it, I have to rev the engine very high..

Sounds like a fuel filter problem, replace your fuel filter. Call an auto parts supply store for the location of the filter

I would NOT use brake cleaner on MAF sensor. There is a product called MAF sensor cleaner. If the
Ck engine is not lit, I not suspect MAF sensor. I have read of some sort of throttle position sensor problems that could cause this type of problem. The idle rising and falling at times is characteristic of this. See Mathews Volvo site for more info.

does this model have an ETS on it? Electronic throttle system. I could need a new throttle body. Sometimes the software goes bad and it will give the symptoms you described.

98 volvo s70 stalling out, then finally after a day wouldnt start

If the air pump system is setting a fault, then the check valve is probably bad. If it is not addressed, eventually exhaust gases can run back through the air hose to the air filter housing and destroy the MAF sensor, causing these types of problems.

The fuel pump also fails and is a more likely cause of the stalling, and it wont set a code.

1999 Volvo S70 Stalls at stop signs and traffic lights

These models had a problem with the electronic control modules, and this is what controls the idle speed. Sometimes they just need to be cleaned, but sometimes they are defective. Volvo has extended the warranty on some of them to 10 years or 200,000 miles if it is found to be defective.

Motor bogs down at stoplight when pushin gas pedal

The fuel pump relay will cause a stalling or no start condition. You are likely having mass airflow sensor, fuel pump, or fuel pressure regulator issues.
