The engine started developing a top end tick and threw the rocker arm off. I pulled the valve cover off and replaced all the lifters and the one rocker arm. The rocker arm appeared to be undamaged but replaced it anyways for good measure. I torqued the cam bolts and put it all back together, Upon first start it ticked for a minute then seemed to run fine. Drove it around that day and noticed that it is still ticking from the top end at around 1500 rpms. not nearly as loud as before but still not the normal quiet sounding engine. Oil pressure sits right in the center of the gauge. Anyone have any ideas of what else i could be looking at that may be causing the issue?
If there was a problem that caused the rocked to become dislodged I would have checked the rocker bushes and shaft and replace both. The rocker where it works on the end of the valve wears a recess that will move and then click back into place. I would use a 20w-50 grade oil and additives work at reducing friction . IF you need it to thicken the oil then there is something worn out.

It sounds like the lifters are still sticking. Change your oil/filter then after 500 miles change it again. Since motor oil has a mild detergents, a couple of changes should hopefully remove any buildup from around the lifters. Do not use "motor flush". Even though your engine is fairly new, it may remove too much buildup and flush it onto your crankshaft bearings. You may try some marvel mystery oil also and I've heard seafoam does a good job, if you can find it. Mine started ticking after using one of the super thick oil additives. I'm still trying to flush that stuff out.

if noise is higher pitched and coming in on valve time...(2wice for every revolution of motor..ie: faster)...then upper end pressure is down due to sludge, wear , lifter failure, valvespring failure, rocker stud lifting out of cylinder head (kinda common) cam bearings failing (very rare)..oil pump bypass stuck open..and a few other possibilities... respond and we will go over lower end sound (deeper ,slower) and see what identifies your issues .... miles

yes it is a lifter or a rocker arm, add a can of a chemical called Berryman's chemtool, drive it for a day or so and drain the oil, if that doesn't cure the noise u are going to have to replace the lifter, rocker as nessararyt,

one hydrolic lifter taps after I just spend 2,000 dollers to rebuild the heads they put all new parts on everything. I whant to know if the single hydrolice lifters can be replaced without pulling the head back off. could it be replaced by just pulling the valve cover 2002 dogde entrepid

Thanks for all the suggestions. I should have noted that before i replaced the lifters i added a quart of lucas oil stabalizer in place of one quart of oil which actually helped quite a bit for a few days. I haven't changed the oil yet. What should i add back in during my next oil change ie which oil should i use and what additives if any?
