If the timing mark on the crank shaft pulley is set at 0 would that be the same as taking off the crankshaft pully and setting the timing mark on the block

With the crankshaft pulley being aligned with the 0 mark on the timing belt cover, the hole on the camshaft sprocket should exactly be in front of the notch of camshaft bracket.

set mark on crankshaft to TDC mark on timing cover. set mark on cam pulley to align with mark on head .if more than one mark on pulley rotate by hand till exhaust and inlet just rocking then align closest marks .

Line up the cam shaft pulley mark with the mark on the head. Bring the crankshaft pulley timing mark to 0 and put the belt on.

We just replaced a torn timing belt and crank position sensor on my 03 lancer. the engine will not fire. how do we set the timing points? I cannot find a repair manual for this year lancer anywhere.


With the belt off and the tensioner pulley pushed back, you will need to set cylinder 1 (far passenger side) to top dead center. There is a mark on the block you can see just behind the crankshaft gear that needs to be aligned to the mark on the crankshaft gear. CAUTION NOT TO TURN THE CAM PULLEY TOO FAR IF ANY PISTONS ARE AT TDC, they will contact the piston on this motor. turn the crankshaft gear forward or backward 1/4 turn off of TDC when you move the cam pully. Once this is done, you will need to set the camshaft pulley to a poorly designed mark on the cylinder head. (it is the corner point of the casting for the cylinder head, it forms a triangle at about the 10:00 position when looking at the cam pulley). Install your belt, it will be tight even with the tensioner pulled back so making sure it doesn't cause either of the gears to move off their marks. Once it on recheck the timing marks upper (cam) and lower (crank), release the tensioner, put your other belt on and you're done. http://www.mivec.co.nz/tech/4G9x_Engine_Manual.pdf

Here is the trick. Align marks. Put the timing belt on the crank shaft pulley first, and after on the overhead cam pulley. Release tensioner and rotate the crank shaft till the timing belt makes two full circles. Try to align marks, you will be at least one tooth off. Align the crank shaft on the mark, and find out how many teeth you are off at the cam shaft pulley. Count the teeth. Remove the timing belt from cam shaft pulley only. Move cam shaft pulley in reverse according to the number of teeth you counted. Make sure the crank shaft pulley is on the mark. Mount the belt at cam shaft pulley.Rotate the belt two circles and check the marks. Repeate this procedure til after releasing the tensioner, and rotating the timing belt two full circles, the mars will be align.

One is on the crank shaft pully (for TDC). It is a line, scribed on the pully, that alligns to a pointer on the plastic timing belt cover. The second is on the cam shaft pully. It can be accessed by removing the rubber inspection plug on the timing belt cover. The third is on the auxillary shaft (oil pump) and is also accessed through an inspection plug on the timing belt cover.

On the cam and oil pump pullies, the diamond aligns to the diamond and the triangle aligns to the triangle (the pullies have both). These should be perfectly aligned when the crankshaft pully line is at 0 deg TDC. If you can't see the marks through the inspection port while the crank is at 0 TDC, you are 180 degrees out - turn the crank one more time.

How do i set the timing on the balancing shaft(just replaced the belt) of a 1995 misubishi rvr 2.0L sports gear


1- Take off all spark plug so you can turn the crankshaft easily to align Top Dead Center (TDC) . 2- Take off the engine cover to see the notch mark on the cam shaft. 3- Turn the crankshaft until the mark on the pulley match with the 0 on the timing mark. At this point if the mark on the camshaft all align then you are good. If it is not then you have to take off the timing belt to do the correct alignment as following items # 4 to 7. 4- Turn the crankshaft until the Piston # 1 is at top. Put in a screw driver to make sure it is at the top. Make sure the Crank shaft at 0 mark. If not, keep turning until it is at desired position. 5- Turn the camshaft to align at the mark in the straight line with the crankshaft mark. 6- Make sure the camshaft lobe is not pressing to open the intake or exhaust valve for piston # 1. This is to ensure it is at ignition stage: Piston is up, all valves closed. 7- Once everything is aligned at TDC, put the timing belt on. Tighten the tension adjuster, then you are good to go.

I need the timeing marks for my 93' accord lx engine 2.2L f22a i4 when i reset the imeing in it last time i made a major repair i set it wrong and now i need to replace my crank bolt and get mt crank shaft...


There are alignment marks on the oil pump cover to line up with the marks on the crankshaft sprocket and on the balance shaft just to the left and a bit higher than it (marks on the cover line up each with the mentioned shafts).
If you know that those bottom pulleys are then in the correct positions on their shafts, with the timing pointer aligned with the white mark on the flywheel(at the view port); the cam pulley (top) must be set so that small dot or the word UP is vertical and the marks on the edges of the pulley are aligned with the surface of the head(you might have to use a straight edge to check).
Hope this helps you, but I can't help you with a place to have the machining done, sorry.

Disconnect battery earth lead. Do not turn crankshaft or camshaft when timing belt removed. Remove spark plugs to ease turning engine. Turn engine in normal direction of ratation unless otherwise stated, Support engine. Remove, engine mounting, auxilliaty drive belts. Water pump pulley 1. Crankshaft pulley bolts 21. crankshaft pully 2. timing belt covers 3. Turn crankshaft to TDC on No 1 cyclinder. Ensure crankshaft sprocket, camshaft sprocket, oil pump sprocket and balancer shaft sprocket timing marks aligned. Timing marks on camshaft sprockets should align with cylinder head upper face. Dowel pins on camshaft sprockets should face upwards. Slacken tensioner bolt. Move tensioner away from belt and lightly tighten bolt. Remove, automatic tensioner unit bolts. Automatic tensioner unit. Timing belt, crankshaft centre bolt, crankshaft sprocket. Crankshaft sprocket guide washer. Slacken blancer shaft belt tensioner bolt. Move tensioner away from belt and lightly tighten bolt. Remove balancer shaft belt.

Installation
Ensuring timing marks arligned. Note timing marks on camshaft sprockets should align with cylinder head upper face. Exhaust sprocket mark is on recess, but inlet sprocket mark is on tooth. Note: to check oil pump sprocket positioned correctly, removing blanking plug from cylinder block. Insert 8mm diameter Phillips srcrewdriver in hole. Ensure screwdriver is inserted 60mm from face of cylinder block. if screwdriver can only be inserted 20mm: turn oil pump sprocket 360°. Insert screwdriver again. Fit balancer shaft belt in anti-clockwise direction, starting at crankshaft sprocket. Slacken balancer shaft belt tensioner bolt. Turn tensioner clockwise to tension belt. Tighten bolt to 15-22Nm. Apply thumb pressure to belt. Belt should deflect 5-7 mm. If not repeat tensioning procedure. Install crankshaft sprocket guide washer, crnakshaft sprocket. Tighten crankshaft cente bolt. Tighten torque:110-130 Nm. Note ensure crankshaft sprocket guide washer is fitted correclty. Oil treads and contact face of crankshaft body before fitting. Check tensioner body for leakage or damage replace if necessary. Check pushrod protrusion is 12mm. If not replace automatic tensioner unit. Slowly compress pushrod into tensioner body until holes aligned. Resistance should be felt. Place flat washer under tnesioner body to avoid damage to body end plugs. Retain pushrod with suitable pin through hole in tensioner body. install automatic tensioner unit to cylinder block. Tighten bolts to 22-27Nm. Fit timing belt in anti-clockwise direction, starting at the tensioner pulley. Slacken tensioner pulley bolt. Turn tensioner pully clockwise to temporarily tension belt. Tighten bolts to 43-45Nm. Turn crankshaft slowly 1/4 turn anti-cockwise. Turn crankshaft clockwise until timing marks alligned. Slacken tensioner pully bolt. Fit tool to tensioner pulley. Tool No 09244 28100. Apply clockwise torque of 2,6-2,8 Nm to tensioner pulley. Tighten bolt to 43-45Nm. Insert special tool in timing belt rear casing. Tool no 09244-28000. Screw in tool until pin can be removed from automatic tensioner unit. Remove special tool. Tool nr 09244-28000. turn crankshaft two turns clockwise. Wait 15 minutes. Ensure timing marks aligned. Check extended length of pushrod is 3,8-4,5mm. Install components in reverse order of removal. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolts, Tighten torque 20-30Nm
