the accord is a EX model but what do you mean by a vtech malfunstion in the computer thnx

  • pancho_ecko Jun 20, 2009

Okay but I found the problem and I feel kinda dumb because when I check my engine oil stick my engine was low. I had to add FOUR bottles of oil to reach the correct level. Now the car runs fine. Since you sound that you do your homework Do you know what're the difference between the models EX and DX, LX. Which is the best to have. thnakx for everything.

Depending on the model of accord. It may be a VTEC malfunction in the computer. If it's an EX it is a VTEC

What VTEC is, really is the ECU or computer sending a message to the engine to open up the secondary valves and up the RPM's. There is an issues with the computer, which really can be a spendy fix! Check engine light on?

Thanks, the differences are really just trim packages. Ex is top of the line with the VTEC, Sunroof, electric everything. The DX I believe is the base model and LX is in between the two etc. Yeah, oil can really help although if you ran out of oil for too long it's not too good and hopefully it will be fine. Your welcome and cheers.

Idle problem integra

check the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure). The ECM (car computer) uses that to keep idle at minimum 750 RPM. It's normal for it to run high when cold. These small 4 banger motors typically run hot, and they won't run right IF they're NOT running hot, ergo the idle is usually high when it is cold so as to cause it to warm up quicker. If the RPM's drop below 750, suspect the MAP sensor, &/or ECM.

Hi i have a 2002 hyundai xg350l while driving the car accelerates without depressing the pedal further, in park when i reach 4000 rpm the rpm shoots up to about 4500 rpm without depressing the pedal...

I'd say sounds kinda like a missfire although with the absence of an engine code I would lean more towards a vacuum leak somewhere. Chk all your lines while cars running to see if you might have a vacuum leak.

Shuddering at 400 rpm

if the engine light is flashing it means that i could be a misfire or a emission problem and its big enough to damage your catalytic converter.

83 honda accord idles very high when warming up then settles.

With other cars that I've had the same problem the distributor (counter clockwise, if memory serves), but those were all standard mount (rear wheel drive) cars. I'm about to go out to do the same thing in a few minutes on my girlfriends 83 Accord. Use caution! Then engine MUST be running and the adjustment MUST be SMALL!!

suspect the cat converter is duff, check and replace, usual reason for your problem, cat gives off a lean mixture, explains the engine running on and poor performance from the engine

it might have a bad coil pack. does it miss at all? the plastic boots deteriate and cause an arcing in the spark plug tube. my experiences have always been high rpm is ignition be it a coil pack or something in ignition.
