Wow, your just starting..the good thing its easy. remove the shaft by taking off the UJoint from the rear end. The shaft the slides out from rear of tranny. Then remove cross member for tranny. remove shifter. Remove bolts from bell housing and your good..(PS Change slave cylinder if Manual).

Would a drive shaft cause gear slipping

More information is needed to be able to know if it is automatic , standard transmission . Also the make model of the vehicle.

And, No. The drive shaft is the part that turns when the clutch is engaged. It could be a bad or slippery clutch plate if it is not an automatic tranny.

E30 clutch replacement

Drop the drive shaft, tranny cross member, transmission and bell housing. Remove the clutch pressure plate and disc and get new set. Use a pilot/clutch alignment tool in the crank shaft pilot bearing/bushing to center the disc and put the new pressure plate on and torque it down. Then put the bell housing, transmission, cross member, and drive shaft back in, and your done.

Clutch cable geo tracker

don't want to shift? fills a huge basket ,
1: grinds?
2: can't get in to some gears.? or all gears.? (engine running and not)?
3: clutch drags, clutch slips kills all gears, or just 5th.
drag kills them all and reverse 1st , its the canary gear. !! non synchro
4: noise.? or chatter, ****,larchig, or throwout hash ,?

here is the clutch page, link below.

the #1 failure for a gear not Selecting is a $5 fix.
the tip of the shifter shaft, plastic POS is broken, bar none this failure,#1 and sold only at SUZ, get em' while you can they are chapter 11 ANDGM/GEO is brain dead , ask them , and you get blank stares.

this can be proven, by selecting the gears by hand. running.
if failure, cant move those fork rods?
running? only
if you cant, the clutch is dragging. see why?
works stalled means the clutch drags.
can you shift to 1st stalled, start engine drive off can you get any gear? yes,if yes , constantly? with no grinding, the clutch is ok.

to do that manual shifter off test test the shifter must be removed.

the we get to the cable.
see the 1inch rule here, no guessing.
play set to spec, and you floor the pedal , person 2 sees 1 inch travel, (END new cable worry)
if it moves 1inch and the tranny can not be SELECTED.
the clutch is bad, if you can select only stalled motor.
if selection fails all time, stalled and running, the tranny is siezed.
covers every fail logged by 1000s of users

Replacing a clutch in my 1989 honda accord any helpful hints im not a wrench monkey im a girl and could us any helpful advice

I can give you the nutshell version, it takes a lot of umph, You have to pull the tarnny out, that means, disconnect thr drive shaft from the tarnny and let it drop or wire it up so it doesn't get in the way, remove the motor mounts but keep the tranny supported by a lift or a jack. remove the engine bolts, starter, battery cable first, when all bolts are off, cross members gone, linkage removed, clutch line removed, pull the tarnny back, you might need a bar or something to priy it out, pull it back, don't let it fall, keep it on the jack, let the jack down a hair as you go, once it on th eground, floor, pull it out of there, make sure you get the car high enough to work under and get the tranny down and out. Not, pull off the pressure plate, clutch, throwout bearing, remove flywheel, if it is cracked, glazed, rough, shot, have it turned, buy a new clutch, PP and bearing, Make sure you have the right clutch by trying it before you muscle that tranny back in. Bolt on the flywheel, PP, center up the clutch plate with a pin or dowel, bolt on the PP, muscle the tranny up and in, get it tight, bolt it up, hook up the linkage, clutch, drive shaft, anything else you took off, cross members, etc, you should be all set. Hope this helps.

I am changing the tranny, I cant get the drive shaft out. Does it slide out of transfer case like drive shafts on a regular tranny does

Have you not looked over the transfer end of the shaft.
It will have to be unbolted, pretty obvious.

Need Directions to Replace clutch in a1993 5spd.toyota 4runnerV6

start off bt taking off your shifter, then disconnect the wires, cables, and the 4x4 linkage, the drop out both drive shafts, support the tranny and transfer case then remove the tranny mount. take out the bolts on the bell housing that go into the motor the pull out the slave cylinder, and the last thing to remove is the cross member that holds up your tranny. after that slide the tranny back about 6 inches tor until it's free from the block and lower it down. after you get it on the ground pull of out clutch fork that is in the bell housing of your tranny, pull the bearing off the shaft that is in the bell housing as well. and last but not least take off the clutch plate ans the clutch disk that is on the fly wheel on your block. and i cant stress this enough be careful when you pull the tranny out and make sure it will not fall on you. so please do it carefully. And take your time.

'03 Wrangler, Clutch Problems

HI, you can start with the basics ,check fluid at the clutch slave reservoir ,if it need fluid ,add to the max and pump the clutch pedal to see if it engage,if not,you must have to bleed it ,it should be a bleeding valve at the slave cilinder, you will need assistance to do this ,to pump the cluth pedal several times and hold it down while you open and let the air out .if this dont help,it may be a bad cluth assembly,it is not to hard to replace it and you dont need any special tools, just basic tools and if you cant get a tranny jack you can use a floor jack, this are the basic steps disconect your positive battery cable remove the shifter, lift and secure the jeep in jack stands, disconect the drive shaft at the u joints , remove all the bolts that holds the tranny to the motor, you my have to remove the starter, position the jack under the tranny ,remove the cross member, remove all cables and every thing around tranny carefully pull the tranny to the back, replace the cluth good luck.................
