Do u need to just replace the cap? I need the year of the car to provide this info

Fig. 2: Tag and disconnect the spark plug wires
Fig. 3: Tag and disengage any distributor electrical connections
Fig. 4: Scribe a mark on the base of the distributor and on the engine to facilitate reinstallation
Fig. 5: Using a distributor wrench, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt
Fig. 6: Remove the distributor hold-down bolt and clamp
Fig. 7: Remove the distributor from the vehicle
5.2L and 5.9L Engines
The distributor must be bright to Top Dead Center (TDC) before removal.
