I have run into this before and it was the MLP sensor on the transmission. Manual Level Position Sensor.

Problem with my car's idling. It idles high then drops low almost stalling. we have replaced numerous parts but it is still running rough.

Could be ISC or idle speed control which is like an electric air valve for the intake air. Some people clean this with WD40 after removing from chamber. Another part that affects idle is the crankshaft position sensor and the O2 sensors.

The repair place should have scanned the car for trouble codes. It is possible to have more than just trouble coded problems. I have mixed opinions about replacing the wrong parts like they did. You should not have to pay full price for wrong guesses. But used parts can not be sold as new once installed.

Malfunction code P1167/P1162 my 98 ho da accord ex VTEC 2.3L stalls out when I come to a stop. Restating is not a problem, but every time I come to a stop it stalls. Idle drops and then stall's.

You may have 2 problems. The trouble codes are for an oxygen sensor fault. You likely have a bad oxygen sensor, but that usually won't cause a car to stall. If you're having issues at idle, look for vacuum leaks or possibly a very dirty throttle body.

When start high idle put foot on break to put in gear then stalls

Doubt it's the O2 sensor.More likely an issue with your IAC(Idle Air Control) motor.Quite often they get plugged up with carbon and stick in position.

Runs rough at idle sometimes stalls runs fine off idle

Just with the info you gave me it sounds like a TPS SENSOR..(Throttle Position Sensor)going bad or else possible an O2 sensor..(Oxygen Sensor)..really need more info.......

1997 PONTIAC GRAND AM 3100. variation of idle speed, Up to 1500rpm, down to around 300rpm then back to 1500rpm, then idle fine

could be a (tps)throttle position sensor also look at (maf)mass airflow sensor/(map)manifold absolute pressure sensor.(iac)idle air control valve...or and a bigger fix a leaking intake manifold gasket but will usually stall when stoping or idleing down.hope this helps so many possibilities but i hope this helps.please rate my answer, and thankyou for using fix ya.

Replaced plugs, had a tune up, replaced air filter but still idles high in p&n drive is at around 1000 p&n runs close to 2000. it also runs bad... shakes and if in drive and stopped for to long...

The first thing I would have checked is the TPS, ( throttle position sensor ), this is usually the cause of a high idle.

As far as running bad and fake stalling or stalling, there are 2 very common things that can cause that.

1. MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor. If this is faulty you will have issues like, bad idle, loss of power when accelerating, poor gas mileage, fake stalling and stalling, eventually your engine will not start.

2. Oxygen sensors. Faulty oxygen sensors can cause very similar symptoms as the MAF.

I hope this helps you.

Stalls while idling and engine "pops" at 4000rpm or better... im told it could be throttle position sensor, idle speed control motor, power control module, bad vacuum line, bad EGR valve, air filter, fuel...

Actually I am hessitant to respond to this one. The problem you are having COULD be many things, however my take is different than the others you seem to have. I believe that you are having timing issues caused by a Crankshaft Positioning Sensor, and/or Cam Positioning Sensor. Thesee are how the computer knows where they are and adjusts timing to make the engine fire at the correct time, thus it is called timing. The computer makes these adjustment is literally THOUSANTHS of a second, and if the sensor is off just a little especially at very high, and very low revolutions you will have a miss, which will at high RPM's "pop" due to it wanting to stall but because of the RPM's keep momentum, and pops but keeps running but at low RPM w/o that momentum, just stalls. I pray this helps you understand WHY I think you may have timing issues and why.
