First try toggling the hazard switch a few times. Sometimes it gets stuck. If no go and all associated fuses are ok, I would look at directional switch. Very common on these.if you're not mechanical inclined this could be a bit more than you may be able to handle. Diagnosis consists of removing steering column cover and checking for power at switch, but caution has to be taken because air bag system wiring also is in that area, you don't want to probe wrong wire.

SOURCE: replace rear brake light bulb 1998 lincoln continental

pop the trunk and right behind where the lights are pull the carpet down and their will be of the following depending on the trim.

You will either see the light sockets themselves that you can twist and pull to change the bulb, or you will see the plastic nuts/screws that you can remove to remove the entire assembly in order to access the bulbs.

If it's your 3rd brake light, the screws to access the housing are located in the upper part of the trunk

I have a 1998 lincoln continental I can't figure out why only the front left front turn signal doesn't work?

Does the 4 way flash part of it work? If not replace bulb but make sure you clean the contact inside the socket, the area touching the metal on the bulbs gets corroded from arching on all the time. Plus daytime running lights cause a draw too. Check wiring at socket for burning or if you have a volt meter check to see if the 12 volts alternates off and on with turn signal in postion and key on.

Hazard lights doesn't work

If the hazard lights and turn signal lights don't work then the problem will either be a blown fuse or the trafficator flash can is faulty.

1999 Lincoln Continental was in for repairs and now my turn signals and break lights dont work. Im being told it's something to do with the anti theft system because the battery was unhooked. The...

I suspect there is a problem with the turn signal/ hazard switch. turn the turn signal on left or right, if it doesn't flash, grip the hazard button and gently wiggle it around, if the signals start flashing, replace the turn signal switch. The Brake lights are wired through the turn signal switch, if the 3rd brake light works, the brake switch is OK. I don't think it has anything to do with the anti theft system (at this time)

Brake lights wont come on but the third brake light works

There is a separate switch for the third brake light.
Put on your flashers to ensure that your brake lights are working.
Then first look on your gas pedal linkage to locate the brake light switch.

1996 lincoln continental: where is the hazard/turn signal flasher relay located?

the hazard flasher is a separate flasher from the signal flasher.they are located on the fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side.some are held in a clip to the wiring harness under the dash.you don`t say if one or the other is working if so then turn on the one that works and look for it and you will see what they look like and find the other and change it.
