I am almost sure it is in steering col area by firewall. but call any part store like auto zone and they can print it out and tell you if your ford dealer wont. but on the fords they usualy are all in the drivers steering area sometimes way up by fire wall

The GEM module on my 2000 Ranger XLT is to the left of the radio. Loosen two scrwes just above the temp controls and pop the top corners back with a wide blade screwdriver to drop the entire radio/temp control panel to reveal the module om the left (driver's side).

The GEM on a 1998 Ranger xlt is behind the center dash panel (bezel) to the left side of the stereo. Remove the stereo w/ the ford puller hooks, the face plate (bezel) comes off w/ two (2) screws just below where the stereo mounted and then (carefully) prying the bezel off. The GEM is just to the driver's side of the opening.

Power window stopped at the same time. wont go down, not fuses or checked wiring see no issues. someone mentioned gem module? Would this be issue & how do I fix?

I don't think this has a GEM module. Have a look at the wiring on the drivers door where it leaves the door and enters the vehicle. It is shrouded in a rubber boot. Peel back/cut boot and inspect wiring for cracking and broken.

1989 ford ranger location of ignition control module

Check for a Thick Film Integrated (TFI) Module attached to the outside of the distrfibutor with about an 8 wire plug on it. That is Ford's ignition module. My recollection is the two screws attaching it to the distributor are odd-ball 7/32 in. size. If the module is taken off, use special ford di-electric grease on the base before re-attaching. For heat dissipation.

This model year (2004-2008) doesn't use a GEM module, if someone told you it did they are thinking of earlier models up to 2003 which did use the Generic Electronic Module (GEM)

Where is the ignition module control located on 1996 ranger 2.3 e

It does not have an ignition control module. The PCM (powertrain control module) fires the coil pack based on signal it recieves from the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor.
