Sometimes it has to be reset at the dealership. But I have disconnected the battery for five to ten minutes and that sometimes will reset the on board PC. Did you change the oil?

In the instrument nacelle there is a small rubber bung. Remove and get a thin electricians screwdriver and push down the little button, near the odometer at the botto of the speedo.

Why Does my Toyota Privias front end sound like its rumbling and going to fall apart. Les Schwab says the shocks and brakes are ok, brand new tires. And it idles horribly and wont start now im parked on...

When the front end is making the rumbling sound does it feel as though your going over speed bumps too? If so your wheel bearings are junk and need to be changed out. It is possible that the burning smell is trans fluid if an auto weeping and splashing back on to the exhaust that has a horrible acrid smell.

How do you change the oil in 95 privia

You have to take the screw out of the oil pan and let it drain... The oil pan in on the underside of the vehicle about middleways back toward the back of the vehicle.

The oil filter is also accessable from under the vehicle, but it's a tight squeeze with out one of those nifty wrenches. After it drains, change the filter, put the screw back in.

You probably know the access panel for the oil is under the driver's seat, then pour your oil in. It will take 5 quarts of oil.

the check engine is on to alert you to the fact that a failure has occurred in the engine or emission system electronic controls, there are over 200 diff faults that turn this light on, you must have the system tested to get the trouble code that is stored in the memory of the computer whenever the light is turned on..

1997 4Runner oil quantity

For a V6 # Liter engine, you will use a galon and almost half (that is about 6 Liters of oil). I use a Toyota camry V6 3 Liter engine that shares the same engine with the Toyota 4Runner.

When you say "warning light is on", I assume you are not talking about the oil pressure gauge...
If not, here is your solution:
What you have is a very common problem: The oil LEVEL sensor has failed. Previas have 2 sensors; pressure & level of the oil in the pan...What you need to do is replace it, Toyota part number : 89491-28030.
BUT...This part is $380.45. Not cheap; Sorry but true.
