SOURCE: Hyundai 2002 sonata,,,, car has power locks.

You are correct in your assumption about a relay... there are two relays. One is for 'LOCKING' the other is for 'UN-LOCKING.' They are both labeled as "LOCK" relays (1 & 2). You can verify if a relay is bad by swapping one with the other. If the problem moves to 'unlocking' the doors, but will NOW LOCK - the relay is bad. If not, further troubleshooting is necessary.

The sensor is located on the left hand rear side of the block (near the bell housing). It is held in place by a 10mm bolt. It's to the right of the exhaust manifold (LH - radiator side) on the V6. Once you purchase the new sensor you'll be able to identify it on the engine. The connector to this sensor is located in the illustration.

SOURCE: Hyundai Sonata 2006 - Check Engine light came on.

"Fuel system too lean at idle". It's an air/fuel ratio that is not correct, possibly a vacuum leak somewhere. Or a leaky exhaust pipe. Could be related to intake manifold gasket. Somewhere, air is getting into the engine.

I suggest taking it back to the dealer under warranty. I think Hyundai is 10yr./100k for the original owner. 5yr./50k if not. Ask first if covered, and ask why not id not covered.

Car doesnt want to start. all lights come on when in the on position however when I turn it to start nothing happens it dont even try to turn over it just clicks 2002 hyundai xg350

The starting system consists of:
  • starter motor
  • starter switch, part of the ignition switch
  • starter motor solenoid relay switch
  • starter solenoid
  • starter drive
When you turn your key to start your engine, it just clicks, right? If so, more than likely this is due to a bad battery. Even though your battery may appear to be fully charged, it may have a dead cell, or worse. If you get a jump, does the vehicle start? If so, replace your battery.

Possible sources of the problem if the engine does not crank or the relay clicks:
  1. Battery
  2. Starter motor
  3. Starter motor relay
  4. Ignition switch
  5. Damaged fuse
  6. Anti-theft system
  7. Circuitry

Have bought new battery for 2000 hyundai sonata, still wont crank engine. What could be the problem?

I assume your motor crankshaft is not 'seized' or otherwise locked up.

Check your battery terminals are clean and firmly attached,
Check battery ground connection is securely connected to the chassis and the motor/chassis ground connection is intact.
Check for 'click' sound as starter solenoid is engaged when Ignition sw set to 'start' position.
If no noise from starter motor, and +12v applied to the starter engage solenoid terminal, then the starter motor may be faulty.

2002 hyundia sonata won't turn over or start its just dead. I tried to jump it didn't work though but the radio and lights work

The problem is in the starting system circuit. The ignition switch applies a ground to the starter relay (located under the hood near the battery in the fuse/relay box), it, it turn, applies power to the starter solenoid which pushes the starter bendix gear into the ring gear on the engine flywheel. When the bendix gear is fully inserted into the ring gear, the solenoid also makes contact with the battery cable connection (internally in the starter solenoid) and applies battery power to the starter motor, which, in turn cranks the engine. A non-crank condition can be caused by a malfunction in any of these components in the starter system, not to mention a bad ground circuit between the engine and the battery/chassis. Since you didn't mention whether or not there was any 'click' when the ignition switch is turned to the 'start' position, I'd look at that circuit first.

Cranks but wont start

May have dirt on crank angle sensor ,loose/damaged. Located usually close to bottomf pulley on engine.. Remember to keep it simple and check for the obvious first (fuel/pump? is emergency shut off tripped accidentally from towing ? Turn ignition on and have someone listen at fuel neck for pump operation. Check all fuses.
