How to replace a belt tensioner in a 2004 freestar

First get the new part and also a new belt.,small tube of blue lok-tight..Use safety glasses and work on cold engine..You can also disconnect negative cable from battery for safety in case you drop a tool on alternator and create an arc that could blow a fuse or worse..set parking brake and in park...Look at belt configuration and draw your own picture of the routing...However you should have a small sticker under hood that shows you the correct routing...You will need a good long slim Ratchet to remove belt and tensioner.also regular socket set with short well metric sockets..They make a special slim tool to remove and install belt..It makes it a lot easier...Remove belt...,remove tensioner...Pay close attention how tensioner sets in place..Install new tensioner in same position..use blue lok-tight on bolt threads to mount tensioner..torque it tight but not too tight,,.Install new belt.,Make positively sure belt sits in all grooves of all pulleys while routing..Double check routing again to make sure belt is perfectly set in all pulleys..Tug on belt with hand to make sure all is good and fit....Make sure all tools are removed from under hood before starting engine .......Start engine to verify all is correct...

Change sepertine belt on engine.

it is not that fun, you need to have 1/4 inch tools, 10mm socket 8mm socket, 12 mm socket,18mm socket. and wrenches to match. you need to support car on jack stands and remove pass tire. Go to your local auto parts store and get a manual first. as the valve timing is very critical in the installation process !!!!!!!!!!! if this timing is not done exactly you will cause severe engine damage to valves and pistons. read manual and read again then assemble it right the first time as there is no room for error. Belt is 30 -50 $$$ depending where you go.

How to remove and replace serpentine belt on 2004 sebring with 2.4l dohc engine. are special tools needed, space seems really tight.

MY solution was to remove the rain shroud underneath the car, and work from beneath. Route the belt over all the pulleys, leaving the tensioner for LAST. With someone above releasing the tensioner with a serpentine belt tool, you can work the belt over the tensioner bit by bit. Make sure the belt is seated correctly before engaging the tensioner.

Hi, I am trying to change out my AC compressor belt on my 2004 545i and can't see how to release the tension on it. Do you need to actually pull the clutch off the AC compressor or is there a special...

You should have a serpentine belt(1 belt that drives all of your accessories) on your BMW. Look for a pulley that is attached to the block(none of the accessories), this will be your tensioner, they come off either one of two ways: one is a a hole that you slide a 1/2in drive ratchet into then pull to loosen, the other will have a bolt in the middle of it, find the correct size socket and again pull(this should move the whole pulley not break the bolt loose), you then pull the belt off and replace by running it around all the accessories and putting it on the tensioner last.

What tool i need to remove a rear seatbelt in a 99 explorer, an allen wrench or torx and what size

It will most likely be a fairly large torx, and in some cases, you need to buy a special seat belt torx. I don't have an explorer close by, to check my special bit on, for you.

Cant get brakes off my yukon denali does it need a special tool

The only special tool i've needed when doing brakes on a truck like yours is a TORX socket for the rear caliper bolts. Is this what you are trying to do? I'm sure GM makes a special tool just for that, but i've used a regular torx socket with a removable bit. Then used a closed end wrench on the bit and double wrenched it for extra leverage as that bolt is on there tight.

Serpentine belt for Dodge Caravan 1998, it repair

Go to auto zone rent a special tool used to release tension on the serpentine belt tensioner.

It's located on the left side looking at the engine from teh front,

You may not have a lot of room to fully pull back the tensioner SO have some ratchets ready and some sockets and a small pipe for leverage, it's a bear.

Your tensioner MAY be bad so you may have to replace it.

We changed the alternator and can't get the belt back on,,,,help.

Have you attached a socket and bar to the belt tensioner, and released the tension on the belt, which will allow you to slip the belt on? I'm not sure of the exact set up on the Escort, some engines are more difficult than others to get a wrench on the tensioner, you can purchase a special tool if there is not enough room (if you purchase the belt from a parts store, many will loan you the tool). The special tool has a long thin handle for easier access to the bolt, and the long handle provides good leverage to easily move it.

Do I need any special tools to remove driver side cv

nothing "special", but there may be torxs bit bolts on the caliper. I've had mine a really long time so to me they arent special anymore.Other than that it's all wrench and socket stuff.
