P0119CadillacEngine Coolant Temperature Circuit Intermittent
- Low engine coolant level
- Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor
- Faulty engine coolant thermostat
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness is open or shorted
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical circuit poor connection
What about the obd code?
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected an erratic signal from the engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor during the system monitor test
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0119 Cadillac Description
The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is used to detect the engine coolant temperature. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM). The modified signal returns to the ECM as the engine coolant temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increases.

Check engine light flashing means there is a bad misfire , it flashes to tell you your damaging your catalytic converter . You need to have it check , you don't won't to have to replace the catalytic converter . Can cost up to $1,000.00 . Flashing Check Engine Light CarMD
Fuel trim lean, banks 1 & 2. That's a pretty strong indication that you should check the fuel pump pressure at the fuel rail, and check the fuel flow rate while you're there. There's a good chance that your fuel pump is just about ready to be replaced.
If you see good pressure & flow rate, run a couple of jugs (not at the same time) of carburetor & fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. It's possible that all your injectors have just gotten so dirty that they can't give you a full-rich mixture.
You'd best do it fairly soon - the engine is running lean, and it can't tolerate that for any great long time without some damage.
"Service Engine Soon" message means that the PCM (Powetrain Control Module aka engine computer) has detected a fault in the fuel, ignition, or emission systems. It is the same as a Check Engine light.
This could be something as simple as a loose fuel cap, or it could be a circuit problem with a component like a fuel injector, O2 sensor, temp sensor, emission system component, etc. When this message appears the PCM stores a trouble code that tells the technician what component is acting up.
This code can be read with a scan tool or code reader. Once the code is retrieved, then the tech can follow the diagnostic procedure for that code and troubleshoot it and then repair it. Most shops (and the dealer) have the equipment to do this. Autozone and some auto parts stores also have a scan tool that will connect to your Cadillac and read the code so you would have an idea as to what component is setting the code; most auto parts stores will check this for no charge.
If the vehicle seems to run ok, then I would not worry too much, but still get the code checked as soon as it is convenient. If the vehicle is running bad, then get this checked as soon as you can because continued driving it may cause further damage.
Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important

E26 - Shorted Throttle Switch Circuit
E27 - Open circuit in throttle switch
On these 2 codes replace the TPS and clear codes (throttle position sensor). E52PCM/ECM Memory Reset
Have u cleared the memory? don't worry about this code.
SERVICE ENGINE SOON and SERVICE ENGINE NOW are 2 amber warning lights pertaining to the vehicles computers.SERVICE SOON advises you of a problem, although not an emergency should be attended to promptly. Your technician can trace the problem by accessing fault codes through the climate control panel. SERVICE NOW indicates a more severe problem which will most likely precipitate a failure / breakdown. The CHANGE OIL LIGHT indicates by time and mileage is a separate light.
