Clicking or ticking sound coming from the rear

sounds like a malfunctioning relay in the wiper controls and youd better get that battery charged back up before it freezes and the water in it turns to ice.. it will kill that battery really quick..

I have a 325i 1993 bmw my windows and sunroof went out barly work all i hear is this ticking noise behind the steering wheel so i buy a new muti purpose relay and plug it in brand new one and its still...

They sold you a turn-indicator relay!!!!
(Sorry- sick joke) ;)
The ticking noise you hear will be the relay contacts repeatedly closing and opening, like somebody flicking the lights on and off.
This should not happen.
Have somebody check your on-board computer and wiring.
Does this help you?

Start relay may have failed. Find the buzzing sound. I bet it's the relay.

Random Ticking, sounds like a very fast blinker coming from the dash board, after awhile it goes away. Sometimes the break lights rear lights will flash on and off while it's ticking. We have also...

Do you have the luxury model ? The ticking you hear is probably the Turn/Hazard Flasher
Mounted to the convenience center, under the left side of the IP, to the left side of the steering column, on the bulkhead .
Is this about where you hear the ticking ?
How good of battery did you buy ? A cheap one from walmart ? They won't last long ,they are junk . The only way the alternator would kill a battery is by over charging , you would need to hook up a voltmeter to the battery an see how much it's charging . 15 volts or over is too much . Do any of light's flicker ? Could be a bad diode in the alternator . You can take it to most auto part stores an they will check the charging system free .
Does the vehicle have these ?
/Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
Twilight Sentinel
The high beam problem i would suspect the switch ,but without testing that would be just a guess .
I would venture to guess you have no clue on how to do automotive electrical circuit testing . Looking at wiring diagrams for the problem circuits an testing with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter is the correct way to find electrical problems . Not thinking it's this or that or guessing . I would suggest that you have a qualified repair shop diagnose the problems. Free wiring diagrams here

Sometimes it won't start, just clicks. replaced the starter and the battery. power gets to the starter, so don't think it's the ignition switch.

if your power going to starter from ignition switch ,your starter has to be faulty or main wires on starter has bad connection

I think the left and right side are powered separately on that vehicle. Check for a Red/Green wire for the left and Red/Black for the R at the steering column. Check for a possible blown fuse. That would be easiest. You could have a bad ground wire on that side as well.

Try replacing the turn signal flasher first. It should be above the drivers feet near the steering column and looks like a typical flasher unit. A little round canister with 2 wires, sometimes 3 wires. It is what you hear clicking when using the turn signals.

steering column bearing sounds like a worn out steering column... jack the front wheels off the ground both sides relieve load on steering wheel to see if it lessens the amount of feel and noise, if it does it shoud be the column bearing, replace bearings or complete column,,, also try with the wheels off the ground and safely supported to manualy steer the wheels by hand and see if you feel in roughness or hear any noises, should some minor resistance but be smooth in it movement if everything suspension and steering component wise is in good working condition... please rate my help.. thanks...
