You have a small air leak. The fuel trim kept increasing to compensate until it exceeded the allowable range. Change the valve cove gasket and valve cove bolt gaskets. check for leeks around intake manifold.

Hello There

These are very common codes on BMW's which can also be false codes, try clearing the codes and run the test again they may not come up again.
With regards to the sound which you thought was a vacum leak there a breather pipe which runs under the plastic engine cover near the injectors which always gets a tear init which will need replacing.

Fuel trim bank 1 permissible range exceeded


If it's only on bank1, you may have poor flow from the injectors. If you get the code for bank 2 show even as "p/d" then a possible vacuum leak. Unmetered air is telling the pre-cat O2 sensor a lean condition. The computer will add more fuel, up to 20% and then it throws the code. Suggest you do a fuel injector cleaner in-tank next fillup. If code persists have the smoke test done to check for vacuum leak. Q: How's is your idle?

sounds like this car just needs new plugs a misfire is 99 percent the time cap rotor plugs and wires out maybe they are fowled out fuel excessive is becuase it is not burning off the fuel in the cylinders from no spark

2002 vw passat....starts fine and drives fine....periodically stalls when braking for stop..this happens after a few miles of driving and is hard to get going again but will start and if reved up a bit I...


It appears that your brake booster system has a major vacuum leak which is causing the engine to go lean and stall. Check the hose between the intake manifold and the brake booster. It may be cracked or loose causing outside air to enter the hose when the brake is applied.

98 camry engine light on w/misfires & system too lean


take sample of your fuel into clear plastic bottle from fuel line
is there any water present?
this can cause these codes and then not go on storing codes for other bank even though that bank will be missfiring also due to water & P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected being logged
check all connections to coils/leads & wiring connectors
due to miss fire codes for cyl 1,3,5 all on the same bank
also look and check for air leaks on that bank (hose knocked off or splithose)inlet manifold gasket,brake booster etc...
3 injectors being blocked slightly on same bank posible!!!
check wires and signal

was it running like this b4 tune up & repairs?
this is what codes are
P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected

the last code is for trans due to misfire/running lean on bank 1 probably a torque problem code

Hello There

These are very common codes on BMW's which can also be false codes, try clearing the codes and run the test again they may not come up again.
With regards to the sound which you thought was a vacum leak there a breather pipe which runs under the plastic engine cover near the injectors which always gets a tear init which will need replacing.

P1142 = Load Calculation Cross Check Lower Limit Exceeded

P1165 = Bank 1, Long Term Fuel Trim, Range 1 Rich Limit Exceede

need fix ya rate okay!!
