Sustained but faint warning chime heard under dash

I am having a problem with a warning chime in my 2001 Dodge Durango. When I turn the truck on and it dings a couple time like normal, it then has a sustained beep that is quieter than the normal ding and sounds like it's coming from under the dash. It also happens when I turn the truck off and either open the door or take the key out of the ignition. same constant faint chime. it turns off after about 45 sec to a minute. What's causing it?

Check the 2 contacts on the passenger sliding door. If the door is out of adjustment they will have poor contact and a bump will jar it and turn on the light and chime. Make sure the side door closes securely.

Probably your security system or the safety interlock. If the security light is not on, try giggling the shifter or starting in neutral.

Please see my tip at . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

SOURCE: 1999 dodge neon. Temp. gauge

Sounds like you might have a sticky thermostat. I had cars do this same thing and it normally only happend the first time you would use the car for the day and then the rest of the day it was fine. But it just takes a little more heat to get it to open causing the engine to over heat for just a min. Then it opens and the temp goes down and works normal after that. I would change the thermostat right away cause it could get worse soon and not open at all.

I have an 2001 Dodge Durango and the turn signal and hazards light are not even blinking on the dash board or outside. The heat blows out but only on high it was working on low and med but now its only on...

The turn signals issue is most likely a fuse or the flasher. The blower issue is a bad blower motor resistor. As far as your running problem if you mean no start no lights, ect check your battery and alternator.

During a long ride the turn signals and radio in my 2001 dodge durango both quit working suddenly. Is there a fuse that controls both and where might I find it (in the dash panel or under the hood)?

I have the same problem with my 2001 Durango. It has something to do with the ignition cylinder not making a good connection. I have to tilt the steering wheel all the way up and then giggle the key to make the turn signals and radio come back on. It's also a lot worse in cold weather.

I took the ignition cylinder out and cleaned it and it has helped the problem a little bit.
