Question about Saturn Ion
Stalls out every once in a while, then just needs a jump to the battery ti start. took it in for an oil change, they said they couldnt change it because of broken head gasket. Where can I go from here?
Head Gasket has nothing to do with changing the oil
If you have a bad head gasket the motor would over heat
& you would be using coolant
Best to go to a local shop & have a talk there
& get your questions answered

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

i don't think so.
with a broken gasket, you have to have it repair immediately because it would create more problems and more $$$ to spend.
you might end up with a broken engine if you would continue to use it.
tnx 4 using fixya,

SOURCE: Blown head gasket
Unfortunately there are too many things that could be wrong Most mechanics will not be tied to a price because the head gasket alone is probably not the only fault.Generaly the head itself is the culprit for the symptom your giving. It may be corroded or cracked and may not be repairable. Then theres all the other bits and pieces like hoses, thermostat etc.Once its all apart and can be inspected you will get your quote, head is usualy sent to machine shop to be inspected and a price for repair/replacement is given by them.Usualy takes a couple of days to get a full quote unless your mechanic has all the nessecary tools and equipment to do it on site.Good luck and hope it all works out ok

SOURCE: car wont start
these cars go through coil packs regularly as the packs overheat due to their position on the end of the engine. I have 3 lanos and have replaced all coil packs at around 90,000 k's.
Hope this helps.
