Changed the Mass Air Flow and the oxygen sensor both upper and lower. what else could it be....Catalytic converter is okay

SOURCE: idle up and down.. have changed 0-2 sensors and

sounds like the IAC (idle air control valve) or possibly a vaccum leak. As far as the cat. converter not ready, the vehicle must be driven a certain distance or go through a certain amount of drive cycles for all the systems to be monitered. Most of the time i just take the vehicle for a 50 mile drive on the freeway and that usually does it.

These have to be replaced. Clean the intake/throttle area, and a new set of plugs. See if that helps, it sounds like one of the plugs don't have a great spark to fire off when you accelerate.

You need a catalytic conveyer. Before you buy one contact your local dealer. These are covered under the federal emissions warranty for at least 8 years or 80,000 miles. The upstream O2 sensor has nothing to do with monitoring the cat. The downstream O2 sensor is the sensor that monitors the cat. The MAF sensor would set lean codes if it where bad or dirty and you would have noticed a lack of power under acceleration if it where really bad. The gas cap has nothing to tpdo with tailpipe emissions so I'm not sure why that was replaced. I guess what I am getting at is you could have put all the money you a lady spent towards a cat and the problem would have been solved. On the inlet flex hose coming from the Air Filter to the Throttle Body, there is attached with 2 tiny screws the AIR FLOW METER,or by the side of the Throttle body,remove it carefully and remove the "O" Rings and use a carburator cleaner and clean the inside of it where the Hot-Wire is as the dust picked up by the filter will seat on the Hot wire and cause the false message sent to the ECU and makes car goes very slowly .

Multiple misfires can be caused by a few different things , intake manifold vacuum leaks , low fuel pressure , basic things like plug wires an spark plugs needing to be changed if hasn't been done already . How many miles on the vehicle ? If over 100,000 K timing chain an gear wear can also cause this . The powertrain control module (PCM) uses information from the ignition control (IC) module and the camshaft position (CMP) sensor in order to determine when an engine misfire is occurring. By monitoring the variations in the crankshaft rotation speed for each cylinder the PCM is able to detect individual misfire events. A misfire rate that is high enough can cause the three-way catalytic converter to overheat under certain conditions. The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will flash ON and OFF when the conditions for 3-way catalytic converter overheating are present.
If the misfire is random, check for the following conditions:

To determine if this condition is causing the DTC P0300 to set, review the Freeze Frame/Failure Records for DTC P0300. If the DTC P0300 occurs at high engine speeds, the condition described above did not cause the DTC to set. If the DTC P0300 occurs at idle or very low engine speeds and at engine coolant temperatures below 80?°C (176?°F), the condition described above is very likely the cause of the DTC to set. The deposits on the heated oxygen sensors can be eliminated by operating the vehicle fully warm at mass air flows above 15 g/s.

What are the causes for NXo reading


A high NOx reading can be caused by any conditions that make the engine run lean. Vacuum leaks will dilute the fuel/air mixture with excess air leading to lean running. Lean mixtures lead to high combustion temperatures which produce NOx.

A malfunctioning EGR valve will not recirculate enough exhaust gas to keep combustion temperatures in check. The primary purpose of this valve is to lower NOx emissions are high RPM. It does this by delivering some low oxygen content gas back into the intake stream to dilute the incoming mixture. By decreasing the oxygen, combustion temps are lowered.

By the same logic, a misfire can cause high NOx. If the fuel/air mixture is not burned, excess oxygen in the exhaust (catalytic feed gas) will cause a dramatic decrease in catalytic converter efficiency in reducing NOx
