SOURCE: My 2000 Toyota Corolla headlights will not turn on during the night, and stay on during the day

Your Corolla has daytime running lights (DRLs). A photocell determines whether it is day or night. Your DRLs turn on automatically in daytime without you operating the light control ("headlight") switch. Your DRLs are actually your headlights on low beam. At night, the photocell senses it is dark and disables the DRLs. When you set the light control ("headlight") switch to HEAD, the head relay closes and the headlights should turn on. Since they don't, I suggest opening the engine room junction block and checking the 40A MAIN fuse and the 10A LEFT HEAD (UPPER) and RIGHT HEAD (UPPER) fuses. In engine room relay block 5, check the 10A LH-LWR HEAD and RH-LWR HEAD fuses. Replace any blown fuses and the headlights should be working normally again

Why did replacing heater core cause electrical issues?

The problem is probably caused by the Body Control Module (BCM) malfunctioning. This module is located under the HVAC assembly (RH side under dash). If your heater core was leaking onto it, or you damaged it during your repair, that could have caused the problems.
Start by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it to see if that resets all systems. While the battery is disconnected, you can check the condition of the BCM and the three connectors (make sure they are seated properly and the contacts are not corroded). You should also scan for error codes to see if that sheds light on the problems.

Depends on the component and level of protection that you purchased. Read /read your contract and see what components are covered and for how long. You never said what component is was.

Sounds like a problem with a door sensor or the body control module. The body computer takes signals from the doors and activates the horn in the case of theft. It also powers the door locks.
You may be able to pull the fuse for the bcm but that could cause more problems when you go to start the truck.

Alarm goes off when it is cold outside (low 30's-So Calif)

When batteries get cold they loose voltage.
The car alarm probably thinks someone is tampering with the vehicle.
Check car battery and alarm backup battery for poor functionality and replace.

I have been working for toyota for 24 years and this is a new interesting problem, the firs thing a would do is disable aftermarket alarm, and see what happen, the remote starter if any and see, and first inspect the car for rodents they go to work causing damage about that time.

Parking light malfunction

The remote starter is the culprit. Your vehicle has a body computer, and it is not programmed to understand the installation of a remote starter. More often than not, the remote starters cause very bizarre things to happen to the body computer. Best advice: Remove the remote starter before it causes permanent damage to the body computer. A BC replacment is over $1,200 dollars.
