Pennzoil High Motor Oil versus B&G oil additive

My car has 200,000 miles on it. We always keep the maintenance schedule up to date. When I get the oil changed they put in Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage Motor Oil and I have them put in a can of B&G Oil Additive. I read that the Pennzoil protects the engine so is it necessary to have the B&G put in or do they both have the same protection for the motor? Thanks, Shirley

It is a 2006 Kia Rio. It runs great. Doesn't use oil.

Use the recommended viscosity of oil only, do not add anything to it.

Is 200.000miles bad are naw and whAt should I do to the engine like maintenance work

200,000 miles is high. But if the car was kept on, you could get another 100,000 miles out of the drive train. Keep up on the oil changes and add an additive to the oil. Everything on the suspension side has been changed at least once. you might start seeing that they need changed again.

its really not needed. most modern motors oils are more than good enough to use. especially synthetics

Still using the 5w30 oil that the manufacturer recommends.?? If the engine is a "higher" mile engine you need stronger protection. Could also be a need for plugs & wires (mis-fires). When it comes to oil, the average mechanic cannot tell you what 5w30 means. 5 thousandths protection (hot) between mating surfaces (rods & bearings, push rods & lifters). 30 thousands protection (cold) between surfaces. If its an older engine, I recommend a higher viscosity oil. 10w40, for an engine 100,000 -200,000 miles.(the gap between surfaces has to be higher as it ages, right??) If you keep your cars running into the 200,000 - 275,000 mile range, I start to use a 20w50 oil. Try a thicker, higher viscosity oil.

I have 101,000 miles on my Trailblazer and the last time I had an oil change they wanted to put in synthetic oil......nothing in the owners manual about doing this......should I change or keep using the...

its mostly personal preferance.. your trailblazer doesnt call for synthetic so if you dont want to spend the extra cash i would just get a decent brand 5w30 or 10w30

About how many miles can a 1993 Mitsubishi Galant last until the car just gives up?

I've seen them with over 300,000 but it just depends on how well you take care of it. If you keep up on the maintenance and do preventive maintenance it will last a long time.

Whats is the best oil to use for usage and miles out of a ford exp 2004 for the bang of the buck!

hands down synthetic oil is the best no contest versus conventional oil. i myself being a technician only use mobil 1 but you can also go with pennzoil or valvoline synthetic. castrol synthetic is ok but does not seem as good as the others and i have tried tried them all.

I am trying to find a maintenance schedule for my 2003 Passat...it has almost 130K miles on it, but everywhere I look the maintenance schedules stop at 100K. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The 100K schedule repeats continually.
What needs to be done at 50K and 100K, then needs to be repeated at 150K for example.
The schedule only needs to go out to the longest delayed item.

I have 219+ miles on a 99 lesabre how long will the car hold up if it was well maintained

theoretically, if the oil is changed every 3000 miles and the rest of the maintenance is done on schedule, the motor will last for many thousands more miles. Unfortunately, everything else on the car must be maintained as well as parts are always going to need replacing.

When i start the car oil light comes on. after driver for a while and stop when i go back and start car light goes away.

most common cause of this would be failure to change oil on a maintenence schedule 3months or 3000 miles. Dodge more so it seems than others sludge internally and begin to lose oil pressure. The cheap way to either rule it out this being the cause or determineing this isnt cause would be to flush the motor with a engine flush and do a change oil.If this continues next step, make sure it isnt a sending unit error, then would be to check on price for oil pump.I always rule out maintenence not maintained first.

What is your recommendation for oil change for Acura TL 04...every 3,0000 or 5,0000 miles

You should change it at least every 3,000miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first. The more often you change your oil, the longer your engine will last.
