2001 Tundra 4.7 L won't idle when cold. Has new plugs and coils.

The coolant temperature sensor signal to the computer determines fuel injection ratio. When it fails the car will be slow to start and a strong odor of gasoline. turn it off and it will start as normal. A failed sensor will also cause stall at idle speed and poor gas milage. the sensor is located near the top radiator hose connection at the thermostat housing.Use a 19 MM deep well socket.

Mazda 626 1999. The problem is that the car idle is 1250 rpm and I turn the a/c and run at 750rpm and has a misfire or at least start shaking bad .just on stoplight or stop sign other that runs good but...

the code refers to the Heated Oxygen Sensor (upstream) this would account for the high revs at idle as the fuel/air ratio is weak so the ecu is try to keep engine running ,you could try a fuel addative that is specifically designed for the catalytic converter as well as the valves etc as this will clear any carbon deposits that have built up on the sensor as well ,follow the manufacturer instructions on the product you choose

Rough idle smell after stopped running

If you have a strong gasoline smell, get that car into a mechanic ASAP. Forget fooling around trying to discover the problem yourself. Gas explodes, right? You already have a strong smell. That means that somewhere down the fuel system line there is an active leak and that is dangerous. The fact you have to post here means you don't know anything about a car, so stop messing around with a potential lethal problem. I am an old alley mechanic from wayyyyy back and am speaking from experience.

My car smells like gas, and the odor gets stronger the longer it sets at an idle. The gas mileage has decreased by 6mpg. The first time it starts for the day the rpm's rev up an dit sounds like you ar

When you smell the strong odor of gasoline and the car runs rough the coolant temperature sensor has failed (no exceptions) The engine is usually slow to start the first time. turn it off and it starts right up next try.

WONT START AND TRIES TO TURN OVER BUT BACK FIRES

AWESOME a real camaro problem.
backfire.
strong odor of gas because the gas isn't getting burned
caused from backfire. backfiring because the spark isnt sparking when its supposed to.
problems could be bad spark plug wires , bad plugs , bad ignition parts.
your gonna need to check wires for bad spots, check ignition coils and stuff like that. if all that stuff is ok, then your problems have to do with inside the engine. jumped time etc.

Not idling well

Could be many things Mass Airflow Sensor, coil pack, O2 sensor , plugs ,wires right down to fuel filter. . It all depends on how well the car has been maintained . If you know the maintenance history of the car then you can start crossing things off one at a time till you come across something that hasn't been changed in a while like plugs for example .

Running rough

I would check sparkplugs, plug wires, vacuum hoses to map sensor, check to see if exhaust is strong out pipe, may be a catalytic convertor stopped up , bad O2 sensor will cause starting and idling problems.
