Question about 1996 Ford Probe
Before trying any of the costly repairs, try bleeding out the clutch slave cylinder, sounds like your clutch is not fully disengaging and there may be air in the clutch hydrolic lines.

Try changing the gearbox oil to a full synthetic 75w 90, chances are its never been changed, these boxs are not tolerate of lack of servicing just like the motors.
