It seems I have more questions that need to be answered. Have you got any on board diagnostic codes. If not you need to hook up a code reader to see if it is storing any codes that will let you to the problem. Most generally the lose of power is related to the timing and is controlled by the O2 sensors. another this is the mass air flow sensor located on the air intake tube next to the air filter. I hope this has been of some help. Good Luck

One other thing, you may want to check the fuel pressure. It the fuel pump is failing, you will lose power.

SOURCE: a smell like burning wires when l go up a hill

hello drk...the only time you smell this is when the engine is under a load? Does is seem to be coming from the a/c vents? Any smoke? I've never heard this complaint on the 2005 6.0 powerstroke. A strong coolant or sulphur smell is what most owners report. Could you give a little more detail please?

Coil pack should in the front top of motor, with engine running remove one spark plug wire at a time from coil pack ( careful not to get shock ) they should all have spark, if one don't replace coil pack.

SOURCE: Still trouble with my 2001 Ford Windstar after replacing spark plugs and wires. It always starts instantly though still running a little rough. Sometimes the power doesn't kick right in to climb

I would suggest you run a compression check on this engine and also have the coolant recovery tank tested for the presence of combustion gases with a gas analyzer, any gases would indicate a leaking head gasket. Any engine cylinder that is lower than 5% of the highest reading cylinder in pounds per square inch has a problem like a scored cylinder or leaking intake or exhaust valve seat.

SOURCE: reason for loss power up hills 1994 f150 5.0 liter

sounds like either a vacuum leak (check the bottom of the "tomatoe juice can" for starters) or a bad or plugged egr valve or egr solenoid.
check engine lite refers to emissions probs only...most likely egr or vac leak. Had the same prob on my 95 5.0 f150...needed new can and egr valve.

When going up hills I lose momentum I changed the plugs, wires, and 02 sensor and it goes up to 3 rpms why isn't it fixed?

First check for any codes, then test vacuum with a good vac guage. When reving engine the vacuum should drop and then climb back up. Check for vacume leaks by spraying carb cleaner at any vacume hoses and intake areas but not at air filter.

then also check compression as well as look at spark plugs to see that they are all tan and no differences in any one. Go to YouTube and search for how to test engine with a vacuum gauge.

Most any problem with an engine can be diagnosed with a vacuums gauge but do use a second test method as you have learned replacing parts hoping to fix a problem is costly.

Why does my 98 dodge caravan have trouble climbing hills?

A transmission issue would give vibration tremendously during uphill. If you're not getting the vibration, or burning smell of transmission fluid, suspect clogged catalytic converters.

2.5 liter no power

Check for back pressure in the exhaust. A plugged cat will cause the exact symptom you have described.

My 2000 deville loses all speed when climbing hills..

Have your exhaust checked for restriction. sounds alot like a plugged cat convertor. If that's not the case, check fuel pressure and volume.

Check your EGR valve, IAC valve, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and spark plug wires

1996 Mercury Villager cuts out while accelerating, especially up hills. Do you think it needs new wires and plugs? If so, how difficult is it to change the plugs and wires?

If it cuts out while climbing it's most likely a fuel filter or a fuel pump that is no longer able to supply enough fuel while you're climbing, which is when you use the most fuel.

Jetta will not accelerate up inclines.

good chance you have a clogged cat converter ...with engine running have someone rev engine and see how much flow you have out tail pipe. also if you hear the sound of something rattling inside exhaust that is another tell tale sign
