SOURCE: Have a 1995 GMC Sierra Truck. Gas is leaking from

chances are your leaking from the gas line from your fuel tank to engine. More than likely the pressure line, but it could be your return line as well. To figure this out you would need to take your fuel tank off the vehicle, and inspect the lines. look for rust and cracks. Rust is a good sign of weakness, and chances are this is where your leak is. Hopefully this helps.

The top where the pump goes in is could be leaking. Have it checked ASAP, a gas fire is a dangerous thing.

SOURCE: EVAP leak (large one).

Dangerous not really.

Check the evap vent solenoid. It will be up under the back of the vehicle. Find the charcoal canister. it will have a large hose coming out of it. If you follow that hose you should run into the vent solenoid. It should have a 2 wire connector plugged into it. Remove it.

Use a jumper wire to supply power to one pin of the solenoid and ground to the other. It doesn't matter which one is power and which one is ground. You should hear the solenoid click. If it doesn't replace it.

If it does see if you can blow through it if you can replace it if you can't than you will need to check the hose or the canister for cracks/holes.

Why is gas leaking out my Evap fresh air hose every time i try to put gas in my car and start it

I suspect you are OVERFILLING your tank...

There should be a direct connection from your canister to the top of the fill tube. It is intended to safely draw out gas fumes.

even if you don't OVERFILL... gasoline can expand (coming from the cold ground... into a nice warm car) enough to repeat the symptoms you have depicted.

Try putting in less gas...

Things will most probably resolve themselves... otherwise you might need a new canister.

Be safe... DO NOT OVERFILL.

Volvo s80 2003, I just got it have drivin it with only putting quater of a tank of gas in it code p0455 has been on. I filled the tank for the first time the other day and parked it in my garradge. In...

code p0455 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) system--large leak detected.===causes--hose connections--intake leak-- EVAP canister --EVAP canister purge valve. There is a possibility that the filler hose to the tank is loose or cracked and when you filled the tank it is running out of the cracked hose. The same applies to the hoses from the tank to the canister and back from the fuel manifold. I would pay attention to the purge valve as if it is not working then fuel smells become a problem also

Where is my evap located on a 1998 pontiac grand prix

which part of the evap system are you looking for. there are several components in your evap system. if you are looking for the evap canister it is located near the rear of the vehicle either on drivers side near the gas tank or just in front of the gas tank. it is a black plastic box with usually 2 vacuum lines running into it. if you are going off an evap leak engine code start with a new gas cap. a bad seal on a gas cap can cause the computer to read an evap leak. if that doesnt work then you may need to have a smoke test done at a local garage. basically they fill the evap system with smoke with a special machine then look for the smoke to appear from the leak in the system. again the evap system consists of several components that run from the engine to the gas tank. it circulates the vapor fumes from the gas back to the tank to be reburned so it does not get released into the atmosphere.

Intermittent Evap Leak

weak power /or poor ground to evap control relay (wiring) common.. also if purge valve stuck open it will not leak externally but let fuel vapors pass back and forth flagging codes..(which it won't due when tank is more full and vapors travel only one direction as designed) good luck

Obd code p0457 fuel cap replaced mil reset defect not cleared connection checked ok

The code is for a large leak in the EVAP system such as a loose or missing gas cap. But it could also mean a loose or missing hose to the canister or other leak in the tank.
The computer vents the tank several times an hour while the engine is running, and it checks the system by pressurizing the gas tank. If the tank will not hold pressure the code is set.
You may have to check the top of the tank where the fuel pump gasket is, as well as the vent lines to the front of the car.
A mechanic would perform a smoke test to look for leaks.

Po440 comes up as evap emmissiion malfuntion what sensor is that?

Most likely the gas cap is loose but, ....unless there is a hole in one of the evap lines or the fuel fill pipe, the most logical problems are the cap, the vent solenoid, and lastly the purge solenoid....

Take the cap off and re install it making sure it is tight and it clicks at least 3 times, drive tha car a while and after a certain number of starts and re starts of the engine the code should clear, if not then start checking the vacuum lines to the vapr recovery system as well at the gas fill hose and like I stated the last items will be those selenoids.

What is code P0455- Emissions leak

well you can have o'reillys use the scan tool to clear codes in the computer and the light will go out unless the problem still exists then it will come back on. this code means that maybe something is wrong in the evap system. i have a question for youl. when you get gas do you stop when filling up and the pump kicks off the first time or do you kepp filling a little more each time trying to top it off better. what many people do not know is that you can do this but it is filling the lines of the evap system with gasoline which will eventually cause problems with the system. the evap controls fuel vapors from the gas tank and it can not work if it is full of gas. i am sure you understand gasoline turns to vapor quickly. gas in your gas tank does too. to keep it under control the evap system gathers it and purges it with switches and sensors that can be damaged by liquid gas. so can vacuum lines. they will swell and leak and all of these will cause the system to fail and the computer will set a code and the light comes on. also the gas cap being lose while the engine is running will do the same.if that is the problem you will need a skilled tech to figure out what is wrong and replace it. if your getting gas always stop the first time the pump kicks off. hope this helps and good luck

you might try looking to see if the filler tube is cracked and leaking if it is you could replace it and that will take care of the check engine lite depending on what code is being set

Engine light comes on and off once in a week.sent to dealer and they change oxygen sensor ($350)didnt work.my regular service to dealer is done on time. I also top up my gas evry day to avoid condensa

Hi, first off don't ever top off your tank I don't know who told you to do this but this is a bad thing. This by itself will cause your engine MIL to come on most likely with a code PO455 large evap system leak. by topping off your tank you are installing a problem on your own vehicle what happens is as the gas heats up it expands normally there is enough room at the top of the tank to stop overflow, but when topped off it overflows into the charcoal canister and starts leaving a caron buildup in your granulated charcoal and will render it useless and a replacement will be necessary. also make sure you clean your gas cap off very well with alcohol. As this by itself can cause your MIL to turn on intermittently and set a PO442 small evap leak code.
