Sounds like a possible vacuum leak Julie. Spray some carb/throttle body cleaner around the intake tubes/manifold while engine is running. If it sucks it in and the engine responds, you have a leak. Or you could have another idle control issue. Check (or have someone check) the vacuum leaks. If ok, post back and I will give some other things to check.

SOURCE: honda accord idles high and low no heat inside

First thing you have to do is check the coolant level. It is possibly very low on anti- freeze, or frozen up from the anti freeze not being strong enough.

SOURCE: Idle problem

It sounds like it could be a distributor problem too. Cause that also controls the idle and timing of the engine.

with your a/c issue, the compressor might be faulty and not engaging and disengaging. have the a/c system level checked and recharged if necessary...if okay, then start to check the clutch in the compressor to see if it kicking it or not...maybe the low side or high side switch...as for your idle, it really didn't sound like a distributor,.....to me it sounds like you have a faulty, Idle Air Control Motor in the throttle body allowing in too little air, and when a/c is on, its just right...have them both checked,

I have an 89 Honda Accord lx and it idles too low

The idle speed for my 88 accord lx is 700-850 rpm for standard idle speed. The stalling is a seperate issue. When were plugs, wires, air/gas filters and distributor last checked? How long has engine been running for when you stall? Is the temprature gauge high? Any lights coming on when stall occurs? I am not a mechanic, but a DYI'er. These are common questions I am always asked when troubleshooting my Honda. :)

While driving car has trouble shifting into gear , and when parked it idles to high.

Make sure high idle linkage is allowing it to kick down after it warms. otherwise back out idle screw.
