Code 157

Error code 157 on your vehicle indicates a problem with your mass airflow sensor. The mass airflow sensor gives a reading based on the air intake and output within the engine compartment. A properly functioning sensor will contribute to better fuel economy. In some instances, you may be able to clean your mass airflow sensor to clear the error code, but the error will most likely return in a short time. Fortunately, replacing the mass airflow sensor is a reasonably simple repair.

My 2005 rendezous wants to stall every time I try and pick up speed to go on the highway...help

The engine in the car is electronically controlled so the first thing that must be done is to have the systems control module scanned for fault codes before any work or parts are replaced. This may be caused by a part called a Mass Airflow senor, but that is just a guess and the part is fairy expensive.

1996 isuzu rodeo keeps reading #2 misfire runs good xcept when cold it hesitates most times or jus occasionally hesitates then the check engine light flashes and its guzzling gas i only got 50 miles on a...

A misfire alarm typically means the coil pack mounted above the sparkplug indicated in the misfire had gone defective.

To test it, swap the coil pack with another cylinder, and see if the misfire goes from #2 to the cylinder you put it on.

If the misfire continues to be on #2, then consider changing the sparkplugs.

I hope this helps.

In my '98 Century I am having serious hesitation while accelerating... Only happens sometimes, but frequency is increasing. When the problem occurs, I will drive for a bit, and when put in park, idle...

P0101 Mass Air Flow, P0300 random misfire, Your problem is the Mass air flow, the P300 is the result of the mass air flow range, Mass air flow is a hot wire sensor they fail when contaiminated, as for the P300 that the engine detecting the condition when the mass airflow range is out, but here is another problem 1998 Buick used a back up its called a map sensor its on the top of intake plenum, make sure its seated and wire connection are there, Now you are going to fix the problem yourself if you ever taken out ,a airfilter and replaced it, then all you need to do is purchase a MAF cleaner mass airflow cleaner or brake cleaner or electrical cleaner clean the inside of your mass airflow you dont have to replace it the code is range performance the hot wire cant clean itself, so someone has to do it

I get codes P0102 and P1128. My mechanic says I need to put a new mass air flow sensor on and it will take care of the problem. Is this correct?

This could very well be correct I believe code P0102 is the mass airflow circuit low input. P1128 should be a lean code.

I would first try cleaning your mass airflow sensor with a carb or throttle body cleaner, they have a tendency to get dirty and not read correctly.

Rav 4 2004 stalls, sputters won't run changed plugs, ignition coil and camshaft senor.Put in cleaned used mass air thing.Sometimes code says cylinder one misfiring. What's the problem?

Change your plug wires. If you want to, switch wires with another cylinder. If the misfire moves to the new cylinder, you found your bad wire.

Engine stalls while driving and sometimes while idling.

The stalling problem could be caused by a faulty mass airflow sensor. That is the PO100 code. The other code is for the engine coolant temperature sensor. Go to the autozone website at autozone .com and register your vehicle. It's free and you will have access to an online repair manual. The procedures for testing the MAF sensor is outlined there. Hope this helps and you find a resolution to your problem. Best wishes.
