95 Jeep wrangler wont go in gear

I have a 95 jeep wrangler 5 speed that will not go in gear after I start it. I have to start it in first gear gear or it won't shift. Once it starts, it goes into second gear really hard. Third gear is the same way. There is no grinding sound when forcing it in gear at any point. What could be the issue? It onyl has 47k miles on it. I have not tried fourth or fifth gear in fear I will not be able to downshift.

If this is something that started suddenly, it could be a leak in your master cylinder or slave cylinder, or your fluid could be low, or there could be air in the lines. Make sure it's full of fluid, and get back to me.

My bf owns a 1995 Jeep wrangler and every gear shifts fine except fifth. He was driving one day and it was fine then all of sudden he went to shift into fifth gear and there wasn't one. Does anyone know how to fix it?

95 wrangler yj. has no power at high speeds

Have you had fuel pressure tested, and/or filter changed. Have you checked for plugged exhaust, such as catalytic converter? Quite often engine will also run a little hotter than normal when exhaust is plugged.

2000 jeep wrangler are sythetic lubes used in axils and trans

Hello grega1967, your Jeep Wrangler came from the factory with gear oil in the axles and manual transmission, but the transfer case uses transmission fluid. It is a NP231 and your axles are Dana 30 in the front and Dana 35 in the rear. They should have a 4.10 gear ratio due to you having a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder.

I hope this helps,
