Question about Toyota 4Runner

1 Answer

95 Forerunner recently replaced heater core is now making a very loud vibration and wrr wrr wrr sound from behind the glovebox... after it was turned off. Sound remains when it's turned on again.

Been leaking coolant which is why we replaced the heater core. Had to take apart the glovebox in order to do that. Never, ever had such a loud noise come from a turned off engine before, and vibration can be felt all the way up the passenger side of the car.

SOURCE: How to replace metal coolant line behind engine

If you can see a small hole , and you can get to it, you may want to try to repair this there are products out there that dry in seconds, and are strong as hell.

I used duramix to seal a rear main seal , 2,000 miles later it still isnt leaking, its worth the time saved and agg trying to reaplace. Duramix - look this up on line, it may be available , I got some from a friend who works at a body shop. This stuff is amazing

SOURCE: coolant leaking somewhere unknown, have to add to

sound like a bad heater core! the heater core is like a small radiator that is usually locaded in the dashboard on the passenger side. now if the leaking is really bad you are going to see water dripping by the front passenger tire or if it gets really bad it may leak inside the car. in order to fix this problem the HEATER CORE must be replaced. good luck

SOURCE: ticking behind glovebox

Does it sound like the noise the turn signal makes? Does the noise change if you change the speed of the blower motor? Do all the function of the heater work (defrost, vent, floor, recirculate, fresh air, hot, cold)?

How come when I start up my 1999 Cadillac deville I smell antifreeze real strong through the vents ? Is something wrong?

The heater core may be leaking / faulty - not familiar with Cadillacs, but normally it is located inside the car, behind the dashboard (glovebox) on the passenger side (near the blower motor). This may be something for a mechanic to diagnose if you are not familiar with automotive heating/cooling systems.

Hmmm, the blower motor is right behind the glovebox. Does the noise and vibration change when you adjust the blower speed?
