Question about 1992 Volvo 240
Well my engine sounds really loud now a days like something is stressing in the engine. I think its the timing belt, now if so how do i change it? im poor and dont have money for a mechanic... the car is a 1992 volvo 240
I would remove the water pump./ Disassemble / Remove Bearing / Get Bearing number / Buy a new Bearing from a local Bearing supply house / Re Install. You can get a water pump gasket for $10.50 from E-Bay . Best way to go.

Timimg belts usually don't make noise, they break and the motor stops!! The noise could be coming from a bad water pump, powersteering pump, air compresser, alternater, leaky exhaust, leaky vacume lines. Check them out. Or, I don't know the condition of the engin. Has it been neglected and are the bearing going? More history would be helpful.
