It is most likely a carburetor problem. MGs are known for their dual carb set up. Heres a you tube video on how to tune them.

Why is my 1986 toyota pickup running rough

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. There are a few things that can cause a vehicle to run rough. First, check for vacuum leaks. A simple leak can cause a car to act up. Make sure the air filter and fuel filter are not clogged up. If you haven't had a tune up in a long time, it may be that. Replace spark plugs, coils, distributor cap, coil packs. Make sure no wires or hoses have come loose. Check to make sure your pcv valve is not clogged or broke. You might want to flush your coolant as well. Go ahead and change your transmission fluid and filter as well. It is possible that you have a sensor going bad also. Try to pull any codes off the computer that you can. If you can, it may lead you to the root of the problem. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and thanks for using FixYa.

Car idles rough in park also runs rough in overdrive

Sometimes a rough idle like that is a fuel filter. As you've already done the plugs and wires the fuel filter would be my next bet.

I have a 2002 chrystler twn n day it started to idle really rough so i changed the fuel pump, spark plugs, new wires, and fuel filter.still idles erratically and stalls when you goose it.also...

From the Fuel End: check the power at each individual fuel injector. If that checks out okay: Pull and check (and replace if needed) the fuel injectors. These could be clogged or malfunctioning.
From the Electronic End: disconnect and check the Electronic Ignition Coil Pack for continuity and consistent Spark. This should have been checked first as a rough idle could be caused by this.
