Fiat Punto 1.4 engine code 118A5C0 . not compression , valve timing correct and no bent valves.

sounds like the valve clearances are incorrect if your engine has got adjustable valve clearances check that 0.40mm inlet 0.50mm exhaust but the engine changed in 1999 to hydraulic valve lifters and when you refit origional folowers you should compress them to remove the old oil or the new refubished cyl head/valves will have no compression because the valves are not seating

Tip

How to tune up your car.

Replace the fuel filter. If you have a fuel-injection system, regular cleaning isn't necessary unless the injectors are clogged.Change the spark plugs (unless they're platinum, in which case you have 30,000 more miles to go). Also examine the spark plug wires and replace as needed. A new set of high-quality wires is worth the cost. They may be permanently attached to the distributor cap, so it will have to be changed as well.the distributor cap and rotor if your car has them (some newer models with distributorless ignition don't).Change the points and condenser if you have an older car (roughly 1978 or older) that doesn't feature electronic ignition. You'll actually want your points changed, or at least adjusted, every six months or so (if they're changed, check the ignition timing as well).Check the ignition timing and adjust as needed (rare for a car with electronic ignition--post-1980--and some cars don't allow this at all).Adjust the valves as needed (unless your car has hydraulic valves). Be sure to replace the valve-cover gasket as well, especially if you see oil on top of your engine.Check the belts. Replace if worn.Check the fluids under the hood and replenish as necessary. Change the oil and oil filter if it's been 3,000 miles since the last oil change.Replace the air filter, which should be changed between major services--every 15,000 miles--as well.Adjust the clutch, if you have a manual transmission (although some cars now sport self-adjusting clutches).Service the battery, adding distilled water (if required), cleaning terminals and cable ends.Replace the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. It can make your car run rough or stall if it gets clogged, and it's cheap and easy to replace.

may want to go bac and reajust valves--or try a synthetic oil like amsoil 0w30--they lower temp as much as 50degree and hav esters so motor seals dont wear

This might not have anything to do with the timing. The valves are not adjustable.

Broken Cylinder head valves

sounds like your timing belt may have slipped or snapped a ceased timing belt adjuster could cause this check your timing belt and adjuster and all belt adjustment pulleys before you fix the valves otherwise its bound to happen againalso make sure your engine oil is full

adjust your valves your oil pickup tube needs to be adjusted you need feeler guages to adjust the valves down properly
make sure lifters and oil pick up tubes are not clogged

feeler guage is---> thin pieces of metal cut to different sizes to hold under valve adjusters till the play and chatter gone
check by book what the feeler size needed for adjustment
