2000 honda cvic will not start but if you push on the it will try to start but will not stay running

Do you notice anything unusual with the dash lights when you turn the key on. All the warning lights should illuminate. If they do not but then come on as you start to rotate the key into the start position than you probably have a bad ignition switch.

If you turn the key to the start position and hold it there (only do this for a few seconds) will the car stay running until you let go of the key? Another clue that the ignition switch may be bad.

if you turn the key to the start position and the vehicle starts slowly let the key rotate back to the run position until the starter disengages. If the vehicle continues to run let go of the key. If the vehicle stalls than the ignition switch is definitely bad.

The car won't start at all?

I would assume that your battery is dead if you are not getting any lights at all. You may just need a jump start its possible you may have left a light on in the car or the battery may have a dead cell. A jump start would be the first step.

How do i remove the panel that covers the radio?

Remove the bezel around the ignetion key switch by pulling lightly, remove the lighter then lightly start pulling the bezel around the radio, start at the top right and slowly work around. This should then just pop off.

Car won't start and security light is on

I have the same car but a gt. All you have to do is put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position, leave it that way for 10 to 15 minutes, then the security light will start blinking, then you can start your car!

hello, if you car stalls instanly maybe your ignition system has a loose connection or even has a short somewhere. but if it coughing but still trying to idle normally maybe your carb dirty. one thing, some carbs has a solenoid air switch attached on one of its side. if this solenoid is shorted damaged you'll have the same effect. hope this helps.
