While you installed the new timing-belt and the new water-pump. Did you also change the belt tensioner and pulleys? Did you verify that there was adequate tension between every span of timing-belt? My first guess is that the belt wasn't installed correctly. That the tensioner was not fully engaged. The engine started but when it was put under a load the teeth jumped on one of the sprockets. What have you inspected so far. You will need to verify that the valves did not get bent during this failure. You will need to check the timing, perform a compression test and then check for fuel and spark. Please let me know what you you have found and hopefully the repair won't be too bad. good luck.

The timing belt could have been loose, or the tensioner not set correctly. It sounds as if your timing belt has slipped.

SOURCE: 1998 Plymouth Neon only "clicks" when you try to start it.

Check the voltage at the battery. It should be in the 12.5+ volt range. Check your connections also to be sure they are clean and tight. A quick check to see if there is enough juice to crank the engine over is to turn the ignition switch to start and at the same time honk the horn. If the horn blows and the starter does not crank, you probably have a bad starter.
The starter is located on the radiator side of the engine block and is held to the transaxle by 2 bolts. Follow the positive cable to the starter. Hope this helps;

SOURCE: How to replace a altenator belt on a 1995 plymouth neon

I had to put my 95 on ramps to make it easier to see. You have to loosen top adjustment nut, then in behind alternator is a bolt that goes through a plate that you have to turn clockwise, to tighten. I found it easier to see form under on ramps. You may have to loosen lower pivot bolt slightly too.

SOURCE: 1997 Neon dies, starts after electric fuel pump relay swapped

Hello, I would assume this is your fuel pump inside your tank. I would first however do some basics like a general tuneup. For starters I would replace your spark plugs and wires, rotary cap and button and check your fuses. Run some injector cleaner through your system. You know quick simple cheap things before you get to the fuel pump inside the gas tank which can be kinda expensive. The warm up then dies can be caused by, "blownout or fouled," spark plugs. I hope this gives you a general direction in which to go. A sidenote is that coil packs do not normally run an igntion code and I for one do not like them becuase they are expensive.

SOURCE: 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE

This looks like you have the fuel tank vacuum. When is in repaus, the tank is sucking some air. When you start the engine, the fuel pump is sucking the fuel from tank and if this don't have a breathing hole or if this is clog or obturated then the fuel pump cannot **** anymore fuel and the engine stops. If you let it for a period of time alone then the tank might **** some air but not enough, so the engine will start but the simptome will show again. I had this simptomes with my car. Try to remove the fuel tank cap and see if you can drive more than 6-7 miles. If so, then the special breathing air hole in the fuel tank is clog. Identify it and clean it. I am not so sure about this problem but is just an ideea. Might be helpfull, who knows? Otherwise should be a PCM problem. In this case you should make a computer test. Good luck!

I have a 1996 buick skylark gran sport , and it kept running hot then it died at light, then started back up, started to run hot again, so i pulled over let it cool and also add water to help cool it down...

You may have done serious damage to the engine. If the water level is fine and you didn't blow your head offs when you penned the radiator cap like it tells toy not to when hot, it's the water circulation pump failing.

Water pump needs to be replaced. Don't keep driving it like that. It's bad bad bad for your engine. Unfortunately a water pump isn't typically easy to replace, seek professional help.

Car won't start

Sound like your timing belt. Take the top cover off, and see what shape that timing belt is in. If it's gone, i think you have anon interference engine, as most Hondas do, so replacing tghe belt and the timing belt components (idler pulley, tensioner and water pump while you're down there) will solve your problem.

98 Honda Passport overheated, died, won't start

The first thing that comes to mind about the no spark found when engine is cranked is the crank angle sensor is not giving the PCM a input signal. Without an input signal, the PCM does not know where number one cylinder is so it cannot start the firing sequence to make the engine start and run. The possible failure of this sensor which I've seen out in the field is usually caused by being exposed to extreme heat. And most of the times the engine cranks but does not start after it cools off and then the engine will start. My main concern is why your vehicle is overheating. I do believe that your vehicle has a timing belt as well. I'm not 100% sure if the timing belt drives the water pump or if it is the drive belt(s) that drive the water pump. I do believe that the noise that you are hearing at 20 mph is your water pump bearings starting to fail. The noise should also fluctuate with your engine RPM 's whether you are moving or in park. If the water pump is driven by your drive belt(s), you can reach down and grab a hold of your plastic cooling fan and try to move it side to side to see if you have play. If you can feel movement, you need a new water pump. Another way of telling if you have a failed water pump is by pressure testing the cooling system. That will also help to find other possible leaks besides the water pump. Usually radiator tanks fail after time and leak at the seems. Make sure there is no white smoke coming from your tail pipe because that usually indicates a blown head gasket. Another way of checking a blown head gasket.... (WEAR EYE PROTECTION BEFORE DOING THIS PROCEDURE!) Remove radiator cap/expansion tank cap when engine is COLD! (Make Sure Radiator Is Topped Off) Start engine and look to see if there is any bubbles coming to the surface. Also make sure that the cooling thermostat is working as well. If the cooling thermostat does not open, all the engine coolant boils over while your driving. If you have any other questions, feel free to reply back.

160mile i was driving an it just died on me it has new water pump an timing belt component kit new but the car just died wont start

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

How can you tell if your water pump is even working

Water pumps FYI

A belt drives your water pump, most are the same belts that turn your altenator and air compressor. Some water pumps are turned by the timing belt. But if you can see that your belt is working the water pump, altenator and compressor, its working. If you had a water pump powered by a timing belt, you would not be able to start your car if that belt stoped.

Water pumps never stop working, they are direct shaft driven.

The only thing is they do start to leak after they get older, then need replacing.

Changing water pump 2000 ford focus

Changing a water pump is pretty basic. Since the coolant system is a closed system you only need to be concerned with that system. For instance you since you have to mess around with it anyway you might as well change the thermostat and flush the coolant system. Make sure your radiator hoses are in good shape and that's about it.
If you have basic mechanical skills and tools you will have no problem replacing a water pump.

As far as information with the actual replacement there are a number of experts here including myself that could explain how to do it.
However no matter how good our explanations are it just can't compare to a good repair manual.
A repair manual for your car at Auto Zone would likely cost between $12 and $15. It is a great investment if you are going to keep your car for any length of time. When you sell, it shows the buyer you took the time to maintain and repair it right.
I personally like Haynes Manuals.
I hope this helps.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee : Replaced Water Pump and Drive Belt now Jeep won't start?

When you replaced the Water Pump, did you replace the Timing Belt? Any time you replace a Water Pump you have to replace the timing belt because it stretches out. If you did not then most likely your Engine is out of time and there for will not start, but it will turn over. hope this helps, good luck.
