You need a hot wire ran from the positive side of battery to the battery side of the distributor.. but your key will unlock the steering only. then jump the purple wire on the starter to the main post on the starter.

SOURCE: Car radio gets hot

Getting hot is always a sign of bad wireing of some sort. It can come from wireing to wires together that shouldn't be together or possibly a bad ground. Re-check your wireing.

SOURCE: crossed wired spark plugs

andersonltam: OOPS! Don'tfeel bad it's a common problem. First we have to get you oriented in front of the vehicle and give you some reference points so that we are talking apples and apples OK?
Standing directly in front of you vehicle, hood up and looking at the motor, the engine sits "Transversely" (SIDE WAYS") HMM they keep doing that!
Starting with the cylinders on the front side of the motor closest to the radiator, they are
numbered as followed. To your left is #2 cylinder, the center is # 4 and the right is # 6
So the layout is even on one side and odd on the other.
On the back side you have the same configuration: # 1 cylinder is to your left, # 3 is in the center and # 5 is on the right.
back of car
(1) (3) (5)
2
to #1 cyl > 1 3 <(Dist cap)
6 4
5
( 2) (4) (6)
Front of Car

This illustration was a close as I could get using what I had, but I think you have a 99.9%
chance of figuring it out...... If you don't I'll be watching... Let me know how I did......

SOURCE: i need to know which wire is the hot wire, going from the car to the car stero

red wires in auto electrics is the nominal power wire. Use a circuit light tester and if it comes on when the ignition switch is on, or in the accessories position then that is the hot (power )wire.

On 2002 olds Intrigue, installing new horns but as soon as wires are plugged in horn honks . Removed horn fuse and relay but horn still honks .when pushing horn button ,with no horns, the relay clicks

You may have wires that have become crossed. The wire to the horn and a hot wire have probably lost the outer insulation and crossed each other causing the horn to start honking when it is connected. Check the wires with an electrical tester.

Have an 04 ford freestar 3.9l. Cranks but wit start just changed out spark plugs and wires coil ignition pack and the crank shaft sensor.

Did the engine work fine before you made those changes? Or did you make the changes because of a problem? If yes to the latter question -- what was the problem you were trying to fix?

Need to know how to wire a shore plug that is a 50amp125/250 with a 12/3 wire there is no Indys on this female mount shore power inlet

to start with 12-3 wire is too small for a 50 amp load..but if you are doing 220 it goes like this you have a black ..white and green wire..black is hot..white is hot and green is ground ..if its 110..the black is hot.. white is ground and green is earth ground to casing metal..the bare copper wire is earth ground.. make sure no wires cross.. this will short it all out..

MY 04 KIA SEDONA KEEPS SAYING MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 1 AFTER I'VE CHANGED THE WIRES, PLUGS, COIL PACKS 2X, ALL 4 LIFTERS AND THE FUEL INJECTOR. WHY? AND WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Fire it up at night and look for arcing in the dark. It may also be nothing more than number 1 plug wire misrouted in a way that inductively picks up energy from one of the other coil packs or cylinders. It should cross other plug wires only once.

When battery is connected the starter engages

You have 2 wires touching somewere.  Possable burnt together. Check the wires at the soleniod one is ground one is hot from the switch. remove the wires hook up battery with a 12vdc test light or volt/ohm meter ck for voltage on the wires. find the hot one and trace it thru the harness cut any ties or remove and coil like cover you should find the spot where it is burnt together or just rubbing.

I just installed a starter into my jeep, when i finished the installation i hooked the batery cables back up and started it up. it staerted great, but wile it was running i heard a weard noise. I shut down...

it could be a defect. if this starting system has a starter solenoid mounted on the fender or firewall instead of on the starter itself, that is suspect also
