Check for battery power at the pump. if you have power and you can't hear the pump hum when someone turns the key on and you listen at the tank filler... change the pump. if you hear the pump come on check the fuel filter for clogging and flow.... no flow means bad pump

Replaced injector pump 990 David brown original had ceased now tractor starts runs for 20-30 seconds then dies. Restarts fine but only runs for 20-30 secs. First start in morning ran for 2-3 minutes


it indicates that there is a fuel shortage problem
check the supply pump for fuel supply to the pump elements
if the fuel supply pump is part of the injector pump , there could be a blockage in the fuel line or air still in the system
of there is a good supply of fuel to the pump then contact the shop that reconditioned the pump
if you just fitted another pump without reconditioning it , then talk to an accredited diesel pump specialist shop

Changed my fuel pump on my 06 ford 500 now I can only start if I hold the fuel reset and it doesn't stay running for very long why does that happen how can I fix this


By fuel reset do you mean inertia fuel cut off switch ? Why did you change the fuel pump ? Are you aware of the fuel pump driver module ! Your vehicle has a electronic returnless fuel system . It is computer controlled , has a fuel rail pressure an temp. sensor .
The FRPT sensor measures the pressure and temperature of the fuel in the fuel rail and sends these signals to the PCM. The sensor uses the intake manifold vacuum as a reference to determine the pressure difference between the fuel rail and the intake manifold. The relationship between fuel pressure and fuel temperature is used to determine the possible presence of fuel vapor in the fuel rail. Both pressure and temperature signals are used to control the speed of the fuel pump. The speed of the fuel pump sustains fuel rail pressure which preserves fuel in its liquid state. The dynamic range of the fuel injectors increase because of the higher rail pressure, which allows the injector pulse width to decrease.
Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) Switch The IFS switch is used in conjunction with the electric fuel pump. The purpose of the IFS switch is to shutoff the fuel pump if a collision occurs. It consists of a steel ball held in place by a magnet. When a sharp impact occurs, the ball breaks loose from the magnet, rolls up a conical ramp and strikes a target plate which opens the electrical contacts of the switch and shuts off the electric fuel pump. Once the switch is open, it must be manually reset before restarting the vehicle. Refer to the Owner's Literature for the location of the IFS.
The FPDM receives a duty cycle signal from the PCM and controls the fuel pump operation in relation to this duty cycle. This results in variable speed fuel pump operation. The FPDM sends diagnostic information to the PCM on the fuel pump monitor circuit. For additional information on Fuel Pump Control and the Fuel Pump Monitor, refer to Fuel Systems in this section.
Electronic Returnless Fuel System (ERFS) The electronic returnless fuel system consists of a fuel tank with reservoir, the fuel pump, the fuel rail pressure (FRP) or fuel rail pressure temperature (FRPT) sensor, the fuel filter, the fuel supply line, the fuel rail temperature (FRT) sensor, the fuel rail, the fuel injectors, and a Schrader valve/pressure test point. For additional information on the fuel system components, refer to Engine Control Components in this section. Operation of the system is as follows:
  1. The fuel delivery system is enabled during crank or running mode once the PCM receives a crankshaft position (CKP) sensor signal.
  1. The fuel pump logic is defined in the fuel system control strategy and is executed by the PCM.
  1. The PCM commands a duty cycle to the fuel pump driver module (FPDM).
  1. The FPDM modulates the voltage to the fuel pump (FP) required to achieve the correct fuel pressure. Voltage for the fuel pump is supplied by the power relay or FPDM power supply relay. For additional information refer to Fuel Pump Control and Fuel Pump Monitor.
  1. The fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor provides the PCM with the current fuel rail pressure. The PCM uses this information to vary the duty cycle output to the FPDM to compensate for varying loads.
  1. The fuel rail temperature (FRT) sensor measures the current fuel temperatures in the fuel rail. This information is used to vary the fuel pressure and avoid fuel system vaporization.
  1. The fuel injector is a solenoid-operated valve that meters the fuel flow to each combustion cylinder. The fuel injector is opened and closed a constant number of times per crankshaft revolution. Sounds like your fuel pump has gone bad. Take it to a mechanic and they can check it.

As you described , there may be many reasons , after fuel filter may be faulty injector or no supply to the injector.
You have to check whether fuel injector getting power supply or not.

There is supply of diesel fuel from the lnjection pump but it seems no diesel going inside the chamber,,


Not enough information. What vehicle? What year? What kind of injection system? There are basically two kinds of diesel injection - injector pump and common rail.
I did notice you talking about an injector pump, but both these systems need a high compression pump to operate the injectors. On the older systems, the injector pump is connected via a gear system to either the crank or the camshaft, and its task is to supply fuel to the injectors in very much the same way as a distributor does on a petrol car.
Now, do you mean the header pump that supplies diesel to the injector pump, or do you mean there is diesel coming out of the injector pump between the pump and the injectors?
On the other system, which I assume you are talking about, diesel is supplied to a high pressure pump which keeps a rail at high pressure. All the injectors are connected to this rail - from there the name "common rail" - and the timing is supplied by the Engine Control Module (ECM) via electrical impulses. Now ,if you have diesel supplied to the common rail but the injectors are not popping, the problem is most likely with the ECM.
However, there is no way of helping you unless you supply more information.

check fuel supply pump fuse.if good problem could be in fuel supply pump which not feeding fuel to the injection pump.make sure fuel filter not stopped up.

2005 chevy 2500 hd diesel no fuel getting to the engine does this vehicle have a kill switch


I'm not sure which engine you have but it has a fuel supply pump usually mounted under the cab on the frame rail, it has a injector pump and an injector pump control module mounted on the engine and the injector pump has a fuel shutoff electric solonoid that shuts the engine off with the key. Provided that there is clean fuel available to the supply pump, any of these 4 parts could cause these symptoms.

I fixed used injection pump to engine and is not starting,i check oniy to fine out that the pump is not injecting fuel to the injectors.the timing is good.it is nissan navara 2000 model


1) There could be an air lock to the fuel system, try to bleed the system.
2) If the fuel is reaching the injector pump & not supplying to the injectors nozzles thn the pump needs attention.

Fuel pours into cylinders


very strange and rare problem. something is keping the injectors open instead of pulsing them. The command to ground the injectors comes from the PCM, Powertrain Control Module. It may be a good idea to pick up a used one from a salvage yard. car-part.com is a good place to look. You will need the info off your module to match up.
Do you have 2.0L SPI engine or 2.0L Zetec engine?

Help w 1994 chevrolet truck


This injector set-up needs a specific fuel pressure supplied to the fuel rail to even start, much less run properly. The fuel pump is immersed in fuel inside the gas tank to keep it cool and not burn up. Running the fuel level low causes more heat in the pump and interuptions in proper fuel pressure. AC/Delco pumps have proven to be a reliable fix, the aftermarket pumps only last for a month or two sometimes. Check fuel pressure under the hood and power and ground to fuel pump at electrical harness at top of gas tank. This truck needs a fuel pump.
