Question about Toyota MR2
New battery last year, charged it and it started OK. Left sit for a month and same issue. Could the anti theft on car drain battery that much? If so can it be disabled?
The battery can be disconnected if you let it sit for more than a week. most common drain that i encounter is in the audio system. disconnect the negative battery cable and put a test light (wired light bulb) between battery post and cable end. if the light is on or even dim, start pulling fuses one at a time. if the light stays on, replace the fuse and move on. if the light goes out then you have found which circuit the draw is in.

you can reset the system by turning key to on position for 5-10 mins and then try starting it but its probably a short or grounding prob try the engine to chassis ground

I just had this same problem with a '96 . do you have a vats key in your '94? you need to bypass the VATS system. read some of the blogs on this site and it will tell you how to do it. I fixed mine with a $2 resistor from radio shack.

You'll have to check the charging system, fuel system, or perhaps maybe a relay switch that may control the fuel because those including the fuel filter usually go out before a fuel pump is replaced. And also check the alternator and battery. Hope you fix it.
