April, though you have a new alternator, it can be bad out of the box and still check out good at the auto parts store. Could be bad diodes letting too many AC volts out, which the auto parts store cannot check for. The alternator will test good every time, been there done that with mine. If didn't replace the alternator with an AC Delco or Denso, I'd yank it out again and exchange it. On the I6 engine, it's pretty easy job.
06 Buick rainier, i have replaced the battery and alternator and it still says "battery not charging" rpm moves up and down and so does the battery needle. what could it be?? HELP!
Check your wire connections make sure they are tight. But it sounds as though your alternater is bad and not charging your battery. A local parts house can test it for you.

code u 1900 is a CAN COMMUNICATION BUS FAULT--receive error and is set when the PCM ( power train module) detects a communication error between itself, ABS, trailer brake and cluster when the ignition is in the -run - position
it is normally attributed to bad connections , wiring, abnormal voltages ,, resistances ,
Having fitted a new alternator and battery, the first thing you should do is use a scanner to reset the ECM
Next is to have the charging system professionally checked as the original problem may not have been the alternator but a faulty voltage regulator which would have set off the code
Hi
Try getting a check done on your alternator to make sure it is charging the battery, if your alternator is not charging then your battery light will stay on, hope this helps
The Check Engine tells you that something is wrong about
your ride. Get your ride check for error code and take necessary steps to
resolve the issue. Also you can post the error codes so that we can help you to
solve the issue. Battery light lit means that your battery needs to be charged
or the electrolyte in the battery is low. Also it can be possible that the
battery needs replacement. Last the oil light alerts you to change the engine
oil. The engine oil prevents the engine components from wearing due to friction
and suppresses the heat generation keeping the metal parts in proper working
condition.
What error message are you receiving? If you are talking about your check engine light (CEL) then you will need to clear the codes for it to go away, or it must be driven through a series of specific events for the computer to clear itself, just take it down to your local auto store and have them scan and clear codes. At 14.5v you should not get the battery light, you may want to check your wiring to your ECM. With your old alternator running at 16v I would say it is possible something was damaged. I know many manufacturers do not protect the computer from spikes from alternators, I have seen this twice in the field, and actually had personal experience as well. This will require much more knowledge about your vehicle and electricity to understand what pins to test and what you should be looking for.
2 things come to mind. first a trickle charg will take about 8 to 10 hours to fully charge the battery, so you might need to charge it longer to see if the battery takes a full charge. did you try jumping the car with another.
second is it possible the charger was hooked up backwards (pos to neg and vice versa)
think your battery went dead again and not on it's own accord. I suspect you have charging system problem (alternator/belt issue) For the 2 days that new battery was in, it was running on battery power.
Solution, just start truck - take it to GOOD autoparts store and have them do FREE charging system test for you.
Re; all the lights and error messages, that's a normal response to a low voltage/not enough power to run all the accessories and ignition on your rig.
I have 2002 Discovery - been there, done that.. hope above helps...
You may need to have the error code reset by the dealer. Once the cars computer senses an issue it will lock it in untill repaired and reset. The only other possible problem is you alternator. If you alternator is going bad it is not sending enough power to recharge your battery properly. A new alternator can be replaced for under $200.00. Lets hope it is just an error code that needs resetting. Take care and please leave me positive feedback. It means a lot to me. If you have more questions do not hesitate to send them to me. I will do anything I can to get you taken care of. Have a good day.
battery likely not holding strenght, light will stay on as a reminder of the problem, disconnect the negative cable of the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect it, this reset the error codes ( that is what the light is, an error code), good luck
If he replaced the battery that would have cleared the code. There is another issue. Was the alternator aftermarket? Just becuase it is new does not mean good. Those are easy to install I would return it to where you got it and try another.
