My guess is a problem with your battery cables, possibly good connections from your battery to the starter & ground. You could have a short in one of the cables & might need to buy NEW ONES to make sure

He is right either that or jump the new battery has to be a connection or your main that goes to the starter is loose on the starter.

SOURCE: When I try and start

I would take the battery and have it charge, some where like autozone or any parts place, then try and start you car, if you still get just the clicking, which I don't think you will, then the starter is going to be bad, but I think it's going to be your alternator, after engine starts head back to the auto parts place, where they can do an starter, battery and alternator test, they should do this at no charge to you.

Left the lights on, have a dead bat. tried to jump it, made beep, now totally dead. cant seem to jump it.

Clean the cables but to do this you have to take the cables off the battery posts and clean around the posts and inside the cable end attachments. You can use coca cola to melt the **** away if you are stuck somewhere. You can jump all day long but if a bunch of **** is there it will basically block your charge from every getting anywhere.

Well, the first answer is right but doesn't solve the problem and the second answer is wrong as the battery is in the trunk.

Just had the exact same problem. Battery dead on 2005 ion due to head lights left on which causes the key to stick in ignition.

Could not get to the battery in trunk because key stuck and power trunk switch also dead (no battery power, catch 22).

Solution: I hooked up a battery charger to the positive terminal under the hood by the fuse box and the negative to the engine block and charged it for 20 minutes. You could also jump it using the same terminals.

Battery needs jump start if car is not driven for 3 days.

u either have a shorted cell in the battery or the system has a current draw like a glove box light being left on, try disconnecting the battery the next time you leave it, if it starts ok then u have a current draw and need to find the source of that draw.

Apart from the fuse box in the engine bay there is a fuse repository behind the coin alcove underneath the boot release. Fuse 3 for the lighter (I think) was blown. I replaced it and now the climate control console responds and the display lights up.

I would first check the condition of the battery. If the battery is okay, that is it puts out enough current to operate the starter. I would then check for a short. The battery would be dead in a couple of hours only if there is a short or another load on the battery.
