Question about 1998 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

1998 Ford Expedition, 5.4, 4x4 with Air Cond. Blower Motor fan.

Blower Motor fan only runs when on HIGH. In the 1st three settings, fan will not operate. Should I look at the switch first or could it be a resistor failure? I have already replaced the fan motor with no change in the operation of the fan. Thanks Joe

The engine is running at 210 you can be sure of that

Look at scan tool data

Your cabin heat issue may very well be several HVAC Blend
Door Vent Motors have failed
That data should be on the scan tool as well in enhanced data
& go to the hvac module

You can switch the heat or air flow to test if they are switching properly

Blower motor only runs on high. other three settings are inop. motor runs okay.

must be the day of fan modules going bad 13th one today. first unplug the fan and get a test lite. using the lite probe the hot side of the plug if it does not lite up on certain positions when you turn the fan speed the fan resistor is bad. di you loose one speed first and then another? if so its defiantly the fan resistor. good luck

Ac fan speed

Replace the blower motor resister, this is the speeds for the blower motor,it is located very near the blower motor, and is mounted on the blower box,and it actually goes inside the box,to keep it cool. The reason for it`s failure is the blower motor, even though the blower motor sounds, and runs good,it is drawing too many amps.If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

1998 Ford Expedition Fan Blower Resistor Location

It should be located on the blower motor housing under the right side of the dash, it will have wiring connector and 2 screws holding it in.

On heat or air cond. the fan will only work on high. There is a small amount of air on each position of the switch and full blast when it gets to the high setting.

I had this problem in a Chevy Astro once. It ended up being the switch. Not sure if that's your fix, but it almost sounds like the switch.

2000 ford expedition fan control only has high speed. Where is the module?

it is more than likely your blower motor, the control module only controls the position of the air flow, such as vent, floor defrost......
