Sounds a lot like the switch itself.
However the park function on all that have demonstrated this problem ,my last VW was a beatle, is handled by a switch box attached to the wiper motor. Themotor typicaly must be removed to open and clean the contacts inside theswitch box. Search the part and picture should show this enclosure on cylindrical motor. May be easiest to just replace. My truck has worked for 7 years now after cleaming but..

My remote control eats batteries

I replaced the battery in a VW key fob with an exact match of the dead battery I found in it. The fob worked again but the new battery lasted only 1 day. I checked the manual and discovered that the wrong battery had been installed by the previous owner and I had repeated that mistake. I installed the correct battery and it has worked fine ever since. I suggest that you double check to be sure you are installing the correct replacement batteries.

Is there a heater illum bulb in a 2001 VW Beatle

Set the fan speed switch to position #2. Grab the fan speed knob and pull it straight off. It might fight you a bit, but it will come off. Once you have the knob off, lookinside the control unit and you will see the bulb. I have seen these just fall out of the socket on their own.

1989 VW beatle. engine running will not go into

I'm going to assume it is an automatic transmission,

Check the brake switch for malfunction,

NOT the brake......the brake light switch,

The cruise control, brake light and shift lever over ride all connected to rhe same circuit.

Check all fuse first, bulbs and move onto checking the brake switch,

New battery in 03 VW Passat, engine turns but will not start.

Possible flooding, cold weather can freez open injectors causing them to leak into the cylinders. Press the gass pedal all the way to the floor and crank the engine for no more than 60 seconds. The cylinders will clear themselves allowing proper mix of air/fuel and should start easy. If that does not solve please specify if the engine is 1.8l or 2.8l.
