My 97 legacy outback has had a dead battery for a few weeks so I charged it and it fired right up. I drove it and had no problem. It sat over night , I tried to crank it the next day and the starter is...

Get someone to give you a jump start and drive the car for about 15 min. This should charge the battery. If the battery loses charge , the problem might be the battery itself, with a bad cell. this means replace the battery . Sometimes new batteries are defective (bad cell) and will not hold a charge. Or, the battery might be old and not work correctly. Another thing you can do is check the battery connections at the battery terminals. These have to be tight, clean and snug. The battery has to have at least 550 cold cranking amps or more if you have a six cylinder engine. The next thing to do is check the charging system , and if there is a problem replace the alternator.

Changed battery now my 2005 suburu legacy wont turn over

ensure battery terminals are clean and cables are tight and intact. check fuses and fusible link in main fuse panel. also ensure that you alternator is charging the battery during operation. any auto parts retailer for the most part will check these things at no charge.

Battery light comes on and off then kills my car

might be due to the battery being bad and may need replacement but if the battery is holding a charge then it might be due to a short out in some place

I have a 1995 subaru legacy. battery looses charge. i tested the battery and it test good. i had alt checked on the bench tester and it passes bench test but will still not charge battery? could there...

Sounds like a bad Earth connection. Check all the battery and earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean and reconnect.

I have a 1998 Subaru Outback Legacy 2.5 liter manual trans. When you turn the key it just clicks.

Clicking in this situation is due to either a low battery, the solenoid and/or starter, or a bad connection at the battery, the ground, or the starter & solenoid connections.

Autoparts stores like autozone will lend you a good battery while they charge yours if it tests low & after making sure the battery is fully charged, clean the terminal connections and try again. If you still have the problem you will need to test the solenoid & starter independently after checking to be sure the starter is tightly installed, no wiggle & the wires all have good connections as mentioned above. Good luck.

98 Subaru Legacy Outback While driving, lights repeatedly dimmed then brightened, along with same on instrument panel, followed eventually by loss of power...however, car started no problem this morning?...

Sounds like a charging problem. I would have alternator checked at local parts store. Also need to inspect the grounds. Both motor and body grounds. Most usually it is the charging system that is not working properly that makes the lights unstable then after it drains the battery it will not have enough power to operate the motor. Hope this helps and gets your Subbie up and going.

Electrical Problem with 1999 Subaru Legacy

hi there, your alternator is not putting out enough, subbies should put out about 14.4v and just after starting should put out 40-60amps. charge the batt that is in it now with a small (3.5-6amp) charger overnight then start the car and LOAD TEST the batt and alternator at a battery shop. ask them to put a carbon pile load tester on your system. im pretty sure they're gonna tell you its the alternator. many thanks, hope this helps!
