Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

What type of air conditioning coolant does a 1999 Grand Prix use? Is it reasonable to replace this myself (I have no real mechanical experience) or should I take it into my mechanic?

1999 pontiac grand prix gt overheated. coolant is in the spare container, stem came from topside on the passenger's side. did not see fluid leaking and temp gauge had been up and down for at least...

Sounds like you have air in your coolant system. Take it to a mechanic shop to have them bleed the cooling system. That should cure your problem. Hope this helps. :) Please rate this. James Booth

Is there a specific type of engine coolant for my 2005 grand prix? My mechanic says my coolant needs to be flushed and replaced with the proper type of coolant. There is no rust in my coolant.

Hello restrada.

Your Pontiac original specification calls for Dexcool coolant.
This is an orange colored fluid.
If the green regular type has been added the system should be flushed and refilled with Dexcool.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Location of radiator bleed valve on a 1999 pontiac grand prix.

Looking at the engine from the front of the car, on the LH side there is a black pipe that comes up from the water pump housing and on top of that is a small screw that will bleed the air in the coolant system.
