Side mirror popped off, not damaged just came off. how do i fix this?

If the entire mirror is intact, with bolts still on and all, just pop off the cover on the inside of the door that is shaped like a triangle and you will see the mounting holes for the mirror. If it fell out, the nuts are probably missing and will need to be replaced

Need to get a "backing

I need the same thing for a 2004 Explorer Sportrac. I can't find the "backing plate" either. Only the glass. No junkyard will sell me only the plate and glass. I did find a complete mirror assembly (housing, gasket, glass) for $37.89. This includes shipping. I got it from It just arrived today and looks to be perfect. I have not installed it yet. Hope this helps you out.

How do you attach a power drivers side mirror on a 1996 GMC Jimmy? Existing mirror was knocked from mooring. Wiring still attached and intact. Mirror controls still work. Plastic connectors are broken....

when you open the door there should be a tringle trim cover at the rough place where the mirror joins to the car.

once you remove the trim (normally by popping it off or sliding it up or a mixture) there should be 2 or 3 nuts. remove the nuts and the hole wing mirror can be removed from the car. note sometime the connector behind the tringle trim cover or behind the door trim itself. be care when removing the wing mirror not to catch the wires

it is a push fit into the plastic ring clips, push the centre of the mirror NOT the edges.the wires connect to the ring on the mirror for the heating element..

Replacing passenger side mirror on a 2002 Forester.

it not too hard to do,you may be able to replace by removing the cover on the inside of door, then remove the nuts holding the mirror on, then disconnect electrical connector, you may need to pry panel back a little to get to the electrical plug, the panel pops out on that side, no need to completely remove, to remove all the way then you would need to remove the screws, but not needed, just pop loose in the area near mirror to get to plug then install new one.

How to replace passenger side power mirror on 1998 ford ranger XLT? Hit another vehicle and knocked mirror off.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls and mirror. Then you can remove the bolts securing the mirror housing onto the door. (I assume that part is still intact).

If it's just the mirror piece and backing that fell out of the housing, then on the inside of the housing, you should see two to four clips that secure the pivot point and two rods that control the pitch of the mirror. You may be able to just 'jam' the mirror backing back in. But the rods need to be secured to the back of the mirror backing in order to prevent the mirror from just falling or moving on its own

Mirror popped loose on my 2004 Sienna

if you push the glass gently to either the left or right you should be able to see a couple of screws that hold all the mirror working parts in place.
As all these parts are made from plastic it is possible that a plastic part has broken and allowed the mirror to come out
Hope this has helped

Passenger side mirror popped out of housing, need to reattach

According to the factory service manual you need to first connect the mirror defogger terminals (if equipped). Next, line up the tab clips on the back of the mirror that fit into the slots of the mirror mount. Push in the bottom of the mirror fully and then use a cloth covered flat-tip screwdriver and place it between the top of the mirror and the mirror housing and press downward. This should engage the tab clips into their corresponding slots in the mount. When finished, check to see that the mirror adjusts properly. Sounds easy but I'll bet its tricky. I haven't done this repair before so write back with a comment and less us all know how it went.
