The Chevy V6 has a recall on bad intake manafold gaskets. You may not qualify, but they need to be replaced. Not too difficult if you are a backyard mechanick

How do i stop a leak from intake manifold gasket?

Please take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic. A leak in the intake manifold gasket can cause catastrophic results not only are you losing coolant to the outside but may also be leaking coolant internally which could contaminate the oil and cause the engine to fail due to loss in lubricating properties. Also, if not torqued properly you may have a warped intake manifold. Please see a good mechanic it may cost more but you risk a much larger cost to replace an engine

If you have a manifold gasket leak on a '07 trailblazer ss would it make the vehicle lose power when driving down the highway

A manifold gasket leak will cause a power loss everywhere you drive, although a hot engine may lose more power than a cold one. You can check you spark plug color. A manifold leak makes a lean mixture so the plug should show the typical white-ish deposits.

Mustang problem

It could be a significant air leak somewhere. It could be a vacuum hose-cracked, loose , broken, or not connected. Or an intake manifold gasket leaking and sucking in air.
Vacuum leaks from hoses often make a hissing or whistling sound, but not always. Check all your vacuum hoses coming from the intake manifold. A carbureted engine means those hoses are pretty old, unless they've been looked after and changed when needed.

Get a spray can of Brakekleen (brake cleaner). You will want the engine running while checking for a leaking intake gasket. Spray all around where the intake manifold mounts on the engine, over and under as best you can. Use as much as you need and listen for a different pitch in engine rpm when the spray gets sucked in and mixes with the mixture already in the intake, going into the cylinders. It should change pitch if a leak, may even try to stall, so be ready to throttle up a bit. try to keep a steady ...off idle, maybe since it idles so odd already.
Losing power could also be caused from a lean, lean burning engine. Vacuum leaks will do just that-lean out the mixture too much. There's a better remedy for this: go buy a $20 automotive vacuum gauge. Once you learn how to use it, you will appreciate what it can tell you about the engine's condition. My chrysler concorde is idling at almost 3500 rms what could cause such a high idle

either a vacuum hose leaking , or a bad intake manifold gasket. Spray engine cleaner directly onto the intake manifold gasket while running. Spray good and if you hear a difference in the idle, that is the problem. Also spray all vacuum hoses. This is the easiest way to check.Good luck, let me know how you make out or rate this solution

How do I fix a vacum leak on 2002 nissam sentra gxe

You have to find the leak and seal it up, hey. It may help to picture where vacuum originates in the engine: As the pistons move down in the cylinders they pull air in from the intake manifold. This creates a pressure drop in the intake, a vacuum that is maintained as the engine is running. New air that is pulled into the intake is measured by the Mass Air Flow sensor mounted in the big boot between the air filter and the intake. If extra air is pulled into the intake manifold from a vacuum leak, uncalibrated air, the computer can figure it out from the oxygen sensors reading in the exhaust-mixture is too lean, so the computer will try to compensate by delivering more fuel, but can't deliver enough, mix is still too lean, so computer sets a code for the vacuum leak.
The intake will have a few vacuum taps with hoses running to engine or car controls that require vacuum to operate. If one of the hoses comes off or has a leak, that is extra air into the intake. Your power brake booster has a large vacuum tap. That may be the problem. With the engine running, pull off that line and plug it, and see if engine speed changes. If the idle drops that may be your leak-a failed power brake booster.
If nothing yet, keep engine running and spray some starting fluid around the mounting area of the intake manifold (maybe the intake gasket has failed and sprung a leak) and listen for a change in engine pitch or speed. The fluid may get sucked into the intake and cause speed to change. If it does, you would need to remove the intake manifold and fit a new manifold gasket.
Also check the big boot from the air filter to the throttle body for tears or loose fit. Good luck, Rev!

1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera leaks oil on back side of motor. Where are the possible locations of this leak?

that all depends on how high the leak comes from, it could be from the intake manifold gasket if its high up on the motor,, a little lower would be around the bearing seals , and lower yet could be the pan gaskets ,, keep in mind that a lot of wind is generated when the motor is running at high speed, and a leak from the front of the motor could be blown to the back very easily.

HIGH IDLE ON 1995 GMC SUB 350 TB

Low / uneven idle problem can cause by a lot of components.

Dirty air filter

Dirty injectors + o-rings

Vacuum leak at intake manifold and vacuum hose.

Bad Idle Air Control Motor (IAC)

Low compression (170 psi + is OK)

Start cleaning and repair these trouble spots and see is there any improvement.

====

For more advance DIY'er then you may try this.

Use a can of Berryman carburetor clean to locate the vacuum leak.

SEE SAMPLE PICTURE HERE

This is a 20-30 minutes job.

Vacuum leaks can occur in following locations.

Intake manifold AND/OR vacuum lines.

Intake manifold is not accessible unless the engine head if off.

You can still check the potential leak by spraying some Berryman near the intake manifold.

Listen for rpm increase after you introduce the Berryman (FUEL) at idle.

Do the same starting from the brake booster unit (the round unit) on the drive side fire all.

Carefully listen for increase of RPM right after to spray the Berryman to the potential vacuum spot.

Get a friend to HEAR the ROM increase or monitor for RPM on the tech.

DO NOT AIM the Berryman into any heat source.

PLEASE RATE my answer if it is useful to you.
