Sounds like the rear trailing arm bushes, they are very common in the hondas, im not sure what a honda passport is, we dont get them here in new zealand, but most hondas have them fail quite often and make the noise you are decribing. check them out and see how you go.

the main motor is on the passenger side. there is a link between the to that operates the driver side wiper. the link has to be replaced.. what i am finding is that you have to buy the whole wiper kit which is approx.70 dollars instead of just buying the link or gromet.

it could just be the under body mud sheld come off, or a wheel bearing on its last legs,,,its a good idear to have it looked at very soon by anybody who knows about cars? not a back street shop?
