Look at the owners manual. You must have the brakes applied and have the car in Neutral. (Not in Park) Then change the selector.

Where do the hoses on a chevy tahoe trasmission go

probablly vent hoses. there are 2 on a 4 wheel drive. 1 for trans, 1 for transfercase. top center on trans and routes up to bell housing, above shift linkage on top of tranfercase. be a plastic 90 dgree elbow, and routes to trans vent i believe.

Won't go into 4 low

Have you tried shifting the automatic transmission to neutral, or if manual transmission- place shift lever to neutral position, then shift the transfer case to neutral position wait a couple seconds then try shifting to 4 low- if you have manual hubs, engage those last. This removes most of the potential mechanical resistance that should allow for the transfer case to shift.

If it still will not go into 4 low you may be dealing with damaged teeth, bent shift dog or worn internal bearings inside the transfer case. As I recall, that was NOT a shift on the fly transfer case.

Surburban won't shift into 2 wheel hi insteads ends up in 4 wheel low

if its manual shift then inspect the linkage, if its push button then the motor/servo on the transfer case could be the issue. or the switch. i had to chase a simular issue on my tahoe and it ended up being the motor on the transfer case that selects the gears

My 1999 silverado the service 4wd light came on I turned truck off and got back in it about 30 min. later and the light was off but will not go in 4 high or 4 low what is wrong?

the light is turned on by the tranfercase control module. if the light is not on and you can't activate 4 high or 4 low then may want to check the fuses first. if the fuses are good, get under the truck and tap on the transfer case motor while some pushes the 4 high button. if you dont hear any clicking from the motor then most likely the module is bad.
