Question about 2004 Land Rover FreeLander

Freelander Deisel,constant vibration,shudder.

I have a1999 Freelander, yesterday I was driving & then changed down gears to turn a corner & since then there is a constant vibration & shudder which you can feel through the whole car.& in the steering wheel. The vibration was worse the faster you go.We were told it could be the IRD.
All of the tyres are ok,no uneven wear.

Remove drive shaft and all vcu components, take for a short drive ( car will still drive in 2 wheel mode, if vibration gone suspect could be vcu , if still felt at front suspect ird if still felt in rear check diff mounts then diff out put bearings and nose end play.

It sounds like a drive shaft problem, but this solution is about the propshaft, not a drive shaft. You cannot drive without a drive shaft. Well, you can if it's a rear drive shaft and you have no propshaft connected, but you need your front driveshafts or the car ain't going nowhere!

Stalled .Had tune up 2 days ago, then 'Test Only' smog yesterday. After 1.5 years problem-free driving, car shuddered as it turned a corner and stalled. Will not start. Had to tow it home.

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exceptions to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

2007 HONDA ACCORD SECOND GEAR SHUDDER

Well, you did a really good job of describing the symptoms, but you didn't do so well describing the car. Are we talking about an automatic or standard transmission? are we talking about a four or six cylinder engine? You are asking about a drivetrain problem without giving any information about what drivetrain the vehicle is equipped with.

With all that said, IF we are talking about an automatic transmission being pushed by a V-6 engine, then there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that matches the symptoms you are describing. In this case, the problem is most likely being caused by a deformed or damaged exhaust pipe "A" mounting bracket.

Inspect the rubber bracket for cracks or torn rubber. If the bracket is damaged replace the bracket. Bend the stud on the exhaust pipe if necessary to get the stud to go through the bracket as straight as possible so the stud does not "ground" against the sides of the bracket. (see diagram)

Automatic shudders on some gear changes.

This car has both options of auto transmission plus manual gear **** so the only reason it can shudder when the clutch is not fully released and thus takes some time, that's when it shudders, but on accelerating this will not happen cos the centripetal clutch has enough torque such that the clutch is pressed hard to the cam & therefore no shuddering. On cruising speed the probability of clutch slipping making the car shudder. Thus changing the clutch assembly ought eliminate this problem....sodeep

1994 Buick Regal "shudders" while driving/ won't always up-shift

It is a 24 year old vehicle (made in 94), it probably needs to retire :>)

Take it to a transmission specialist rather than a normal garage, as it sounds like a sensor problem. It may also be rubber mountings that have perished, and the engine and transmission are only partially mounted to the chassis.

Loud roar or vibration

Start by inspecting your tires. Look for uneven tread ware, tire separation (a bubble) on the inside or outside. Then change the fluid in your front and rear differential. This will tell you if you have a gear problem. Change the fluid in your transfer case also for indication of a gear problem.
