The resistor on the fan is bad. You can purchase a new resister or buy a new fan assembly. Mine did the same thing and I just purchased the whole fan assembly and changed it out. to change the resistor, you have to take the fan assembly out. So I just changed the whole thing.

Why does the car fan keep running after engine is off mini cooper 2010

The fan may be thermostatically controlled. When the engine cools sufficiently, the thermostat opens and shuts down the fan.

Maybe that is normal in hot weather,

2005 mini cooper running hot. the fan is not coming on

hi it could be your coolant level has dropped to far for the sensor to operate the fan to work ,so top up the coolant by removing the coolant cap and topping it up and run the engine with the cap off and the heater switched to hot but with the fan switched off till it has warmed up and all the air is expelled from the system if that doesnt help you need to locate the coolant temperature sensor and replace it good luck

I turn my car off and take the keys out but the fan keeps running?

if the car is warm the fans are designed to continue to run untill temp drops to normal temp and then fans shut off. This is a normal operation of the fan nothing to worry about. Now if they stay running for more than 10 minutes you have a problem.

COOPER S HAS DONE 30000 MILES THE FAN HAS STARTED RUNNING AFTER ENGINE OFF , ONLY STOPS WHEN ENGINE TURNED BACK ON THEN OFF AGAIN

the fan is running because the sensor is picking up a hot spot(top of the engine(head)when you switch on again the computer is verifying the engine temp)to see if it needs choke)then shutting down the fan.....this is why one needs a computer to find out whats what with modern cars......

Overheat, and running fan

check your oil and coolant level to be on the safe side but it sounds like everything is normal if there is no airflow across the radiator the fan will operate when the engine gets hot even with the engine off
