If it is an old sportage I think the code was all 9's or 1's the real code should be in the back of the owners manual

SOURCE: resetting radio code
You need to be very careful Each failed attempt causes a long delay before you can enter it again. Follow the instructions exactly. You may need to use the car for a day or more before attempting it again if you failed too many times. The radio should say CODE not ERROR. Error means no code can be entered now. You must wait until the radio displays CODE.
