Wiring diagram for cooling fan

Someone rewired fan away from fuse box and it does not work

Hi Tara lindquist, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? We are talking about the radiator fan aren't we? Does the fan come on when you turn on the air conditioner? I believe Chiltons and Haynes manuals would have the wiring diagrams if you can't find them on the web.

It is a 2 speed system that utilizes 3 relays to do this.

SOURCE: 1992 corvette - cooling fans do not actuate at temperature.

Do the fans come on when you turn on the air conditioner. I do believe the temp switch for the fan is on the passenger side of the engine above the starter.

SOURCE: I need to rewire my

Probably the easiest way to fix it would be to get the wiring harness parts that you need at a salvage yard from a vehicle that has wiring harnesses that are compatible with yours.

The other way to do it would be to get a wiring diagram and replacing each of the wires of your fan circuits so they are as close to original equipment as possible.

NOT: any splices made should be done with **** connectors and shrink-tubing to seal the joints so you don't end up with another mess like the one you have now. Then cover the wires with plastic loom like the original harnesses. Wire, connectors, shrink tubing and wire loom are available at most auto parts retailers.

Cooling fan relay could be bad . cooling fan fuse - C/FAN 40 amp. under hood fuse box , as are C/FAN lo & C/FAN HI relay's . Video's on youtube on testing relay's an power an control circuit's at the relay base .socket etc... Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size. Under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on cooling system . Click the search button then the blue link . Looking at the diagram i see the ECM controls the cooling fans relay's . You mite want to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

1994 pontiac sunbird radiator fan not working

Unplug the coolant fan & put battery voltage, directly to it

If it works, in either direction, then get a wiring diagram
& work on testing the control side of the circuit

You can check all fuses, but replacing a blown fuse,
is not a fix, for anything, that caused it to fail

Do you know anything about automotive electrical testing , viewing wiring diagrams an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test the circuits ? resistance in a circuit causes heat .Main cable to the fuse box . Testing using voltage drop is the way to find the problem . Learning how automotive electrical systems work is also a must if you want to fix electrical problems .

There are no inline fuse for the cooling fans , relay an fuse in the under hood fuse / relay box. Viewing a wiring diagram to see what all is involved in the control of the cooling fans an testing is how to find the problem , more then likely the relay is bad . But without testing that would be a guess . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size .
